These sentiments are usually held by ALL of us... left-wingers AND right-wingers, no??? But what DOES winnin' a debate mean? Or, if ya wish, what SHOULD winnin' a debate mean???

Many a year ago, I seemta remember perusin' a debatin' text put out by a fella named William Rusher... In it, he presented many responses ta questions he presented about debatin' techniques... As I recall, one question he asked wuz: "If you were to be caught in a factual error, what should you do?" Most of the respondents replied: "Apologise immediately..." But ONE fella... by the name of William F. Buckley, seemed ta feel otherwise... His reply: "Trivialize it!"
