My wife and I just got back from taking two of our grandaughters to see the movie. It was quite different from the others in the series, much darker and cerebral. Still well worth the money to go see.

A week from Saturday I pick up my copy of Harry Potter Seven. Don't worry. I won't be a spoiler and give away the plot.

So you liked OoTP? Reviews are saying that it's the best Harry Potter movie yet. :)

It was probably the most adult one of them all. There were a bunch of young kids there and I don't think the movie was that appropriate for them. My grandaughters and I really enjoyed it. The only problem was that almost all of it was filmed inside buildings, so the film was very dark, sort of like those old English films.

I think you would love it DF.

My oldest grandaughter, 12, loves that Harry Potter sort of stuff and I bought her all the Potter books. I have also bought her all the Artemis Fowl books. When I buy my grandkids a book I buy two copies and read one so we can discuss it. That's how I was introduced to Harry Potter.

I absolutely love Harry Potter. Kids my age are a big audience since, as I was about 8 when the first one came out, I was old enough to read it then and yet young enough to continue reading them as they came out. I particularly remember having parties in elementary/middle school whenever one of the books or movies would come out. We'd dress up and make wands and write with quills and eat Bertie Bott's Every Flavor beans (we just used regular jelly beans in homemade Bertie Bott's bags before they actually came out with them.)

And I do agree that the fifth movie is probably slightly inappropriate for younger viewers, because the book is definitely written for someone who was my age when it came out... I believe I was 13/14.

Saw it this morning. It was good, for a movie. They are never as good as the books. They left a lot out but the movie was still over 2 hours long.

Can't wait for the book!

I'm getting the 7th book the morning it's released, locking myself away and not coming out until I finish it. I had the 6th book ruined for me and it's not happening again.

Better be careful when purchasing the book. With the last book there were people outside the store yelling Dumbledor dies. Maybe to be completely safe you should wear earplugs when going to the book store, go home and unplug the tv and radio, switch off all your phones, lock the doors and pull down the shades. Also kill all family members just in case someone told them how the book ends.

LOL... I didn't get to read the sixth one until about a month after it came out since I was in a foreign country at the time... So of course by the time I read it I'd heard about Dumbledore dying; I'd even seen the t-shirts that say "DUMBLEDORE DIES ON PAGE 596!"

It didn't spoil it for me at all. Although I didn't cry when I read it like I did when I read Sirius' death in the fifth book. I don't think that really had to do with whether or not I knew though.

I remember in 3rd grade kids talking about how Harry would die.

I am now in 12th grade and for the love of donuts, please kill him. I'm tired of all this waiting.

Actually I'd say that Voldemort will be the one who dies. Although another possibility is that they might BOTH die. However, I think the least plausible ending for what is after all a children's series would be for Voldemort to win.

Got my book this morning and started reading it. It looks like it's going to be pretty dark and brooding.

Yep, I got mine at midnight last night... Stayed up quite late reading. You're very right about the dark & brooding part.

I have dedicated two days to reading and I am finished. I long for someone to discuss the book about. I will happily wait until all are done as not to rune (ruin, ha ha) it for anyone.

looking forward to hearing what others think,

I'm waiting for more people to finish the book too, 007. I don't want to post anything about it yet because I might inadvertently spoil it for someone else. All I will say is that it was better than I expected and much more an adult book than the previous six.
