I think you are only a pawn if you choose to be. I believe in a lot of things the video said. We own our own lives and really no one has the right to it. I fail to see how anyone cannot see that.
Do you own your own life or not?

I've seen the video before and it is basically a mixture of libertarianism and pacifism. I don't think anyone owns my life but I do believe in acting by consensus. Leaders should not be imposed on us but once the majority chooses the leaders they are the leaders of all of us.
I don't hold with people who call Bush, YOUR PRESIDENT any more than I held with people who called Clinton YOUR PRESIDENT. Once in office they are President of all Americans.
As a classical conservative I agree that we should not meddle in the affairs of other nations. Let others sort out their own problems. It is not our place to be the cops of the world.

I agree with the video. I think it is extremely well done. Bascially that would sum up my personal life philosophy.

I disagree with the video. I believe self ownership refers to myself owning the rest of humanity. Bow down peasant motherfuckers!

No, I don't. Not completely.
Because this is the U.S., where the conservatives who control things have mandated that the People do NOT own their own lives.
If the citizens of this country *owned their own lives*, they would be perfectly free to have an assisted suicide. The State would have NO constraints on them, IF they*owned their own lives*.
A fellow named Jack Kevorkian just spent 8 years in jail, thanks to the rightwinger's position that your life --and the final say so over it-- belongs to the State, and not to yourself.

If we truely owned our own lives we would not have to pay income tax that the liberals are so enamored of, Freethinker. It is amazing how select you are in your dudgeon. Amazing but predictable.

Alright, already.I Get your ONE Theme mindset.
Republicans control EVERYTHING.They even have dominance over
stock prices and Wall Street.
They control wages, and pensions and Health costs and Welfare.
They determiine the price of your home and how much to sell for.
They control Oil prices.OPEC is merely a willing pawn.
Milton Friedman was a Repubbie, therefore he even controls little
Clintonite Robert Reich,Today.
- Free to Choose - was only a Republican bumper sticker, that
mistakenly went on sale around Halloween in the crazy days of
Hulk Hogan and Steroids were passed out by ALL Republican Politicians
lookin for easy likeability and votes.
Laissez-faire,yer s'not.Butts,lazy at understandin Economics and the marketplace,surely Are/.
What else ya gots ?

I understand your point. BUT, asisted suicide is not the same as suicide, and if you chose to kill your self, by yourself, there really isn't a damn thing they could do about it. In the end the choice was and IS yours. I don't care about conservatives and what they try to do in that respect. I own MY life.

I can't say whether there was a vast Right Wing conspiracy against Jack Kevorkian, but I will say that he chose the wrong State in which to practice his craft.
And just for the record, brother Freethinker?
I support Dr. Jack's position on assisted suicide.
I wish more physicians were as brave and forward-looking as he once was.
Alas, he has thrown in the towel, and has now passed the baton to others to carry.
