Any buddy here think the US should man some spacecraft with PEOPLE... (as opposed ta robotically controlled vehicles) and join in the fun? And if so, where wouldja want the US ta visit??? The moon again??? Mars??? Twilight Zone??? (That last one mighta been a joke... some folks say Americans are ALREADY in the...)

Didn't NASA say that 15 years ago? Strangly I remember that Popular Science said that NASA had plans all the way back in the mid to early 90s to send somebody to the moon by 2003.

Dear, countries have been battling to be the 'first' to lay claim to any land as long as there have BEEN countries. This 'race for the moon' is hardly new... during the Cold War the same race was at the forefront (albeit for slightly skewed reasons)... the USSR bankrupted its space program in an attempt to compete with the United States, and even though the US pulled through in the end, other countries still contribute massively to the knowledge base. From sattelites, to manned missions... where does one country get the right to 'lay claim' to the moon?
Aside from all of that, you should probably do some research on what you decide to go off on a tangent. The US has manned a number of missions to the moon, and you would probably remember the Mars Rover and the images it sent back. The US is hardly 'behind' other countries... they're at the forefront.

Blib I never heard 15 years ago that we were going to send MANNED space flights to mars. Where were you 15 years ago that you can remember this, aren't you only 15 now? They did say we would send a craft and we did, now they are saying it will be manned in 14-15 years. I don't know if it will happen, time will tell???????

The fifteen years ago thing was a joke(NASA is bloody slow, and make too many promises, I think it was a complete accident that they got on the moon, they never did it very well :D). But they did say about five years ago that we should be there, uh, now. And, yes, I mean manned flights, they wanted a full set of buildings up there by 2010... HAHAHAHA

I did. It didn't turn red in my area - I was a little disappointed. It was still cool, though.
