According to an article off of Yahoo!, a lake in Chile has actually disappeared!
I'm not sure what to make of this, but it's very disturbing! Coupled with global warming, what is going on with our world and what can we do to help?

Somebody, somewhere is blaming George Bush.
And when Hillary's elected, she'll restore the damn lake.

Then, she'll drain it.

Then, she'll restore the damn lake again.

Then, she'll drain it again.

Catch my drift?

This isn't that uncommon. Lakes disappearing that is. Especially lakes this size.......

I seriously doubt that has anything to do with global warming.

The article stated that there was a fissure located on the lake bed. I'm thinking that the earth opened up and the water drained deep underground. I saw something similar happen at a local pond when I first moved to Connecticut. For an 11 year old, seeing a huge whirlpool open up in the middle of a lake was a bit frightening, dammit.

I had heard that it was likely caused by a tremor that opened up the ground and allowed the water to drain through. Would have been quite an amazing site.

Lakes here in Florida drain from time to time. When the lack of rainfall allows the underground aquifer level to drop the lakes drain.
These lakes can be quite large, Lake Jackson near Tallahassee is one.
