Last slinkys I saw in a store were all plastic. Plastic ones just don't walk as well. Haven't seen a hula hoop in about ...... well, let's just say "too long".

My daughter had a hula hoop just a couple of years ago. Es you are right the slinky as taken a turn for the worst.

I used to LOVE the slinky... But it would piss me off that I could never get it to go down the steps.

Damn the slinky was the best, I remember back in the day I used to play with it for hours at a time. I remember even using it as a jump rope.

We have a plastic one in the teachers workroom at school. Whenever I'm waiting for something to finish copying (or for the copier to jam), I play with one part of it... for some reason, it's in two pieces... and I think someone tried to duct tape it together. That's my favorite toy, DUCT TAPE!!!

Our son had a slinky recently (until he put it in his toy box and it got tangled up in everything! lol) and it worked great on our stairs. I think the problem is that when they were first made, stairs in homes were not the same size as they are nowadays. They were skinnier. Now the steps are much deeper and it wasn't made to slink that far....lol We live in an old house built in 1890 and the dang thing went nuts going down the stairs....hehe

Another favorite were the toy tops. I enjoyed the fairly large ones with the built in spinner rod that made a musical sound when moving very fast.

Anyone remember "Evorges"? I had one in the early 70's. It was a 45 record holder with fur....lol I think they came in different colors, but mine was blue and had a comb for a mouth.
Just curious if anyone has ever heard of these....:)
