We dont seem to have a geography section here so I'll stick this in the science lab.
When I was at school, there was a difference of opinion as to the question
'What is the worlds longest river?
The Amazon-correct.
The Nile-correct.
Even today this question sometimes comes up on quiz shows, either answer is usually accepted.
The Brazilians are now claiming the title once again.

The last I saw, the Nile is considered the world's longest river. It's about 100 miles longer than the Amazon.

But maybe this is kinda like the measurement of Everest. Every time they measure the mountain, they get a different reading!

It depends on which source you use for the river. The Mississippi River would be longer than it is considered to be now if the source was considered to be the source of the Missouri River instead of the currently used source in Minnesota.

No, it starts in the desert.

But you'll have to check some really obscure books to find out this tidbit that the government doesn't want you to know.

Send me $525.99 and I'll send you the book (s).

When I was in school you would get wrong answer if you said Amazon is longer than Nile.

You would think both these rivers sourses would change from season to season and year to year, both rise in mountain terrain.

Years ago, we visited the birthplace of the Wabash River, which has been immortalized in our state song On the Banks of the Wabash, Far Away.

It's about 7-8 miles south of Celina, Ohio, in what appears to be an ordinary drainage ditch....but actually it begins in a woods, in an area we couldn't get to because of the mud.

It's a pretty river as it widens and meanders through the countryside but sure doesn't look like much at its source.

edited because of misspelling of "Celina"

Do the rivers in Ireland change locations often?

No.The Shannon is the longest, not sure how long tho.
They tend to keep to much the same course all the time.
