In my neck of the woods the council come round oncea week, one week they lift household waste the next they lift recycleable stuff, which isnt allowed in the household stuff.
If I go to the local dump, everything must be seperated and put in large bins for recycleing, whats it like were u are,
and is it a waste of time.

In ny, I recycled everything and had a small bag of trash left. Even soda cans you can turn in for 5 cents each.Recyclables were free so you paid less for your trash.
Quarterly you could bring paint, etc to the dump for free and they also did site visits and you could bring your refrig, freezer ~white items~there and they took them for a small fee.
Once a year your furniture and most large items out at the roadside on certain date and they took it free *if the savangers didn't snatch it up first*
The only recycling I've seen so far here in TN is a dumpster in a marketplace parking lot for telephone books or newspapers.

Hmmm. Lets say he averages 2 cans per minute, so that's about 10 cents. x 60 = 600 cents per hour. So he's making about minimum wage. Not bad for that kinda work.

no mandatory recyling here, but yard waste isn't allowed in landfills, and there's a 10 cent deposit on pop and beer cans and bottles...i think that should extend to batteries too.
