Funny that this master of intolerance is now checking into Rehab. I guess by his own standard - he'll be checking into the slammer after the stint in Rehab
LIMBAUGH'S DRUG QUOTES:
"We're going to let you destroy your life. We're going to make it easy and then all of us who accept the responsibilities of life and don't destroy our lives on drugs, we'll pay for whatever messes you get into."
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec. 9, 1993
"There's nothing good about drug use. We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.
"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."-- Rush Limbaugh show, Oct. 5, 1995

I liked Lettermans Top 10 list on LIMBAUGH'S next steps
10. Apologize for racist remarks by explaining he was high on illegal painkillers
9. Pat down friends and family to see who's wearing a wire
8. Announce his candidacy for governor of California
7. End pill addiction -- get back to sandwich addiction
6. Search desperately for some way to blame the Clintons
5. Make moves on soon-to-be-single Halle Berry
4. Tell Donovan McNabb derogatory remarks were part of new season of "'d"
3. Brunch with Robert Downey Jr.
2. Dinner with Trent Lott
1. Check job listings for pompous blowhard

Rush has now been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to be a lying hypocrite. Of course, he has enough money that jail time will probably be out of the question even if he were caught dealing instead of using. IMO they must have some rock solid proof on him for this confession to come so easily and so soon after the allegations.

Just goes to show that addiction knows no boundaries. As with any other disease, it cares nothing about race, sex, religion, & social status. Regardless of your reactions to Rush's words, do have a kind thought for his recovery.

"Disease"? Give me a break. Is it just me or does it bug the hell out of everyone else when people try to act like drug addiction is as terrible as breast cancer?
HELLO! One is self-inflicted and the other isn't!

Addiction may be a terrible thing but Rush knows the difference between right & wrong. He obviously does because he makes a living being a 'holier than thou' proponent of a hard line.
He has said on many occasions that drug addicts should be thrown in jail & his tolerance / caring for them has been low.
So, now we find out he is doing his show & then going home and getting wasted on percocets. Bit bloody hypocritical.
If you live in a glass house you better not throw stones.
On top of all that - it looks like he is making shady deals to buy pills on the drug market.
If it was all 'due to his back' etc etc - and with his money - he would be under a doctors care & the doctor would be writing scripts for the pills - but is he doing that? No - he's tied up in some illegal drug rings.
So, do I have any sympathy for him? - Hell no. I hope he recovers, but the only reason he is in rehab is becuase he got caught - had he not been - he would probably be high right now or meeting with drug dealers.
At the very least he should resign from his show and quit being the hypocrytical phoney that he is. He has no platform from which to preach any more.
Another Rush Quote:
"'When you strip it all away," Rush had said of the Grateful Dead guitarist, "Jerry Garcia destroyed his life on drugs. And yet he's being honored, like some godlike figure. Our priorities are out of whack, folks."

We should take a lesson from this mess.If you get to the top by stepping on people it won't last.Beware of maids and porters.Remember Water gate? The man on the bottom will pull you down because he has nothing to lose.I thought this blow heart had more sense than that. That was and awful lot of pills, Do you think someone else is also involved? It seems like and awful lot of money to pay someone for the stuff he was spewing

I've been a Rush fan for about eight years now... and this story really has shocked me. I haven't quite figured out yet how I feel, and I don't know whether I will continue to tune in when/if he gets back on the radio.
But since no one else has stepped up, I did want to speak out in his defense.
Rush has for years spoken out against the use of illegal drugs. Cocaine, crack, heroine... substances that our society has deemed to be inherently evil. An individual has a choice as to whether or not he should begin using such a substance, and if he chooses to use it then he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
However, Rush has never stated that prescription drugs are somehow wrong or illegal -- and of course, they are not. These substances are used to help people. It is unfortunate, however, that some of these legal drugs are so powerful that they may overcome the will of those who take them.
Rush is not necessarily a hypocrite -- he is simply a human who shares the same faults and weaknesses as the rest of our poor race. He did not make a conscious choice to snort cocaine or shoot up heroine. He legitimately took legal pain-relieving drugs, and these overpowered his formidible will.
I know it shocks liberals that Rush isn't perfect, but the fact is that he's mortal. And he has now recognized his wrongdoing and is taking steps to correct his misdeeds. We should support him in his efforts to recover. To do otherwise simply because we do not agree with his political views seems a low and cruel act, indeed.

That's a very technical defense to a not very technical problem. He might never have said that abusing "prescription" drugs was wrong, but I have a very hard time believing that he didn't.

Very true, but he wasn't especially understanding of people with similar weaknesses before he was brought down by this.

I again agree, and as a conservative I have no real interest in bringing Rush down, although I never especially cared for him, but if you're going to take the very hard line he usually takes on issues, then you have to fully expect to have that same hard line applied to you. Perhaps he'll moderate himself a bit after this.

It's not a case of being liberal or conservative or an issue of political views. The main point is that when you earn millions of $ being an uncaring mouthpeice - taking hard lines on many things such as drug abuse - then you better not be secretly part of the crowd you are slamming.
If Rush was some other TV presenter it wouldn't be a big news item. The guy on friends who plays Chandler was hooked on the same thing and nobody cared - it wasn't news because he doesn't make his living vocalising how worthless such addicts are from a bully pulpit.
Rush is a disgrace.

Rush is just like a cop that goes bad, he tells everyone one how perfect he is and how certain people should be treated. Then when he pulls the same stunt that he finds so unforgiving, etc.. we are all suppose to feel sorry for him. Bull sh** I say bring him to the town center for a stoning, Rush is full of hot air and crap, always has been. I always wondered when he would finally f**k up, I think it is funny and hope he never can go back on the radio.

Rush has good ideas, and I like his show. It seems as if everyone hates him so bad becasue he is right most of the time, if he wasnt he wouldnt last this long. Now, regardign his drugs, it is wrong, and if he is found in violation of the laws then he sould go to jail. I find it funny tought that for anyone else in the world, admitting to drugs and going to rehab would enhance peoples perception of them, like they were strong and did the right thing, its completly 100% opposite for this guy. The way the media jumped on this without doing any ivestigation besides looking at the front page of the enquirere shows how badly they wanted to nail this guy for ANYTHING. I am not sticking up for rush, for he was wrong and should pay, but it doesnt look to good for those who insist there isno liberal bias in the media. I recall a week after the Limbaugh story broke, another story came out that matt lauer was doing coke, strangely, this seemed to dissapear with about 20 minutes. not word one from katie or any other talking head.

Yeah, but everyone else wasn't spending a lot of time talking about personal responsibility and how bad drugs are. If Shaquille O'Neal declares bankruptcy people might feel bad for him. If a pompous money grubber like Trump declared bankruptcy people would laugh at him.
