Anyone here remember the Rockband "Redbone" from the 70's? For those that do, I never knew that those guys were all Native Americans :woohoo:

I used to LOVE those guys songs, but I never saw them, till now. Here is a song called come and get you love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xLi39E9PbA) that was also one of my all time favorites back then

Redbones aren't really native Americans. They are a mixed breed of American Indians and whites also known as melungeons. They were formerly classified as 'persons of color'. You can read about them in the book, Almost White by Brewton Berry. That is where I first came across the term Redbones in the mid 1960's when I was taking a cultural anthropology course at a local community college during summer hiatus from college.

I saw Redbone in concert at the Ritz music hall in Corpus Christi,Texas in the late 70's. They played two nights with Sugarloaf. Redbone headlined the first night and Sugarload headlined the second. I went to the first night and Sugarloaf was great but Redbone sucked really bad. And I liked the hit song they had. They played way to loud and we left half-way throught their set.
