I,nor any man,now or throughout time immemorial,cannot
prove one way or another if there really is a God.
Religion insists upon Faith.
I like Faith.
We all have some kind of Faith in something.
Whether or not it is something as simple as Faith the TV will
keep running,year after year.
Faith that Summer will come,as well as Winter,every year.
Faith that Rain will help during a drought.
W/O Faith Mankind is merely a shell of bodily functions and
brain waves that may or may not portend to do mush besides eat,
sleep and engage in sex or monkeyshines.

Let's analyse the initial post in some depth as it is a common type of argument which basically says "I need God to make sense out of my pathetic little life" or "Religion makes life's little vicissitudes easier to handle and is a heckuva lot cheaper than Psychotherapy!".....

It may "seem" a waste, and in fact may be a waste, but that doesn't change things one iota. Nature cares nothing for how you or I feel. Leprosy sucks, yet it exists. Life might have been better without such a horrid disease, yet it existed because the bacillus that generates the disease was until recently invincible. All good stories come to and end, and eventually so will you, me and everthing else, the Nation, Civilization, even the Earth. That's the nature of our lives. And unfortunately, there's no complaint box to file away ones grievances about the way Nature operates, nor will any complaint be heard. Is it all a waste? In many ways yes it is, but Nature, especially when it comes to living beings is extremely wasteful and cares nothing about individuals or species.

You just answered you own question. It is not rational to invent imaginary friends in the sky who can do nothing to help you anyway. The concept of God has been a hindrance to science, philosophy, art, in fact civilization causing far more harm than the triffling few goods it does. The rational person seeks the truth no matter how ugly or foul the truth may be and prefers an ugly truth to a pleasant fantasy.

You have committed one of the commonest informal logic fallacies, the one known as the Ad Ignorantium fallacy or the Argument from Ignorance.
I'll explain it because it has TWO forms.

You can't prove something TRUE, therefore it must be false.
You can't prove soemthing FALSE, therefore it must be true.

You are totally correct to say Faith is good, or at least certain types of faith. You are right in saying that without faith that you'll arrive at work safely each day and get back safely, then your life would be crippled. If you lived in constant doubt of your spouse's fidelity, you'd wreck your marriage and destroy love. And faith in yourself above all is the best kind of faith in all.
Here's a quote from a religious man, a Vedantist Swami Vivekananda for you
"You have faith in God, good. To have faith in oneself is better."


But then there's a BAD kind of faith, the type of faith built of credulousness, or accepting statements without analysing them, subjecting them to truth tests, blind, unreasoning faith. That kind of faith causes great harm to us all.
It is this type of faith that allows con-men to swindle you out of your paycheck. It's this type of faith that spreads vicious rumors about other people without even bothering to see if the rumor has any truth in it. It is this type of irrational belief that spreads ancient traditions without seeing if the traditions have any evidential basis. It is this type of faith that keeps man enchained to the horrible creeds invented by clergymen and priests of all stripes.
