How the hell could you have possible posted over a thousand times and not know that there is a movie/television section?
That said...this sadly (but as everything Rosie does it seems) IS news. I dont know why...but it is.
Now that those are both said...I say this: Elizabeth is as big a cook as Rosie IMO...but sitting with Rosie, Barbara, and Joyless and never being able to get a word in would probably do that to her. She is sexy as hell though - so if I have to choose someone to support - despite it being the conservative nutjob of a nutjob vs. nutjob no holds barred matchup - I'll take the sexy nutjob anyday.

That bit belongs in the Allforums News, as far as I am concerned. Because that 'The View' segment was sadly representative of the political discourse normally found on this very web-forum.
In other words, it was a vapid, overly-emotional pissing contest, straight down the two-party lines, and it carried-on for much longer than necessary. With a small contingent of concerned apologist/peacemakers in the middle, grinning like confused and embarassed chimpanzees.
That's daytime television?
Jesus Christ, no wonder I never watch the tube anymore.

Unfortunately that partisan "pissing contest" is what qualifies as political discourse in our society, pretty much across the board. It isn't always such a screaming match but the straight party lines is pretty accurate.

This was reported by AP, and found in the "Most viewed news stories". So it must fit as well.

Can you qualify that statement in some coherent manner, sir?
Are you insinuating that the US Armed Forces make it a practice or tactic to emplace IEDs and purposely detonate them in crowded civilian markets?
I take exception to that.

what Rosie said is that out troop being there was cause of civilian deaths.. what she was implying is that if the troops were not in Iraq 61,000 Iraqi civilains would not be dead because the terrorist would not be targeting them but the right winged media made out Rosie statement that she believed that the troops were the directly killing the civilains and being the terrorists. Rosie was disputing how the right wing was spinning it and asked Elizabeth if she believed what the republicans where spinning about her because Elizabeth is Republican and Elizabeth would not give a direct yes or no. Rosie accused Elizabeth of double speak that is is a simple yes or no question and then the fight broke out.

I am defineing a terrorist as anyone who commits a needlessly violent act that kills innocent people.
Do the 9/11 hijackers suddenly become 'soldiers' (instead of terrorists) because we find out they were aiming for one military individual on the 88th floor?
warrior1972
05-24-2007, 04:05 PM
that would technically mean the US soilders of Haditha are terrorist?

I am defineing a terrorist as anyone who commits a needlessly violent act that kills innocent people.
....As long as it is politcally motivated. You could make the argument, however, that the War on Terror is political - thus the soldiers could actually be labeled (by definition) a terrorist.
Do the 9/11 hijackers suddenly become 'soldiers' (instead of terrorists) because we find out they were aiming for one military individual on the 88th floor?
No - by definition they would have to be currently in the military to be considered a soldier. Given a stretch, I suppose you could consider it an act of war.

05-24-2007, 04:33 PM
which is exactly my point. Thanks for thinking about it Jerejere. I've come to assume only knee jerk reations from posters here.
Given a stretch, I suppose you could consider it an act of war. Bush declared it an act of war. But then again every word out of his mouth is a stretch.
....As long as it is politcally motivated. You could make the argument, however, that the War on Terror is political - thus the soldiers could actually be labeled (by definition) a terrorist. removing saddam from power was not a political act? but when you really get down to it...What isn't political?

Bush declared it an act of war. But then again every word out of his mouth is a stretch.
True. I know I am begining to sound like the bastard son of Noah Webster - but by definition the attack itself was an act of war. An act of agression by one country on another while at peace is an act of war....so what they did could surely be considered as such.
removing saddam from power was not a political act? but when you really get down to it...What isn't political?
I agree, 500. I was responding to your post that and "needlessly violent act that kills innocent people" is terrorism. If someone just kills an innocent person because they want to - it would be hard to come up with a poltical reason behind it.
500lbguerilla
05-24-2007, 04:58 PM
What I'm getting act is that every act in itself is political. You have people who say "I'm not politcal" but that merely means they tacitly endorse the status quo. Buying stuff at Walmart endorses Chinese sweatshop labor. Sure you can be apathetic, but you can't be apolitical.

(The last several posts between 500 and Jerejere have been excellent reading. I will now lower the discourse. I'm so sorry about doing this)
Elizabeth was asked if Rosie really meant to say the troops were terrorists.
Elizabeth said Rosie should be asked that question.
Rosie said Elizabeth should have answered the question and defended her.
Elizabeth said Rosie should answer it right now.
Rosie still will not say she didn't mean it but expects Elizabeth to say it on her behalf.
Elizabeth said that Rosie should answer her own question - which she didn't.

I could care less about fat cow Rosie and smokin hot Elizabeth... what i found funny was Joy's list of "facts", some not even close to being facts....
But yet her biased, uneducated voice will ring loud and clear among the liberals who watch the view... they become "facts" because Joy said so... that lady is senile and pissed off...

Well I'm not so sure there is really all that much interest here either. I think that it is merely a vehicle used to illicit various opinions once again. Usually, it breaks down into a pissing match between the right and the left.
I checked out the video, Rosie is still her obnoxious self with a hint of truth and blondie while easier to look at seems rather vapid to me and overwhelmed by the bullhorn.
Barbara needs a new show, this one is done.

From the fight this is my view:
Firstly, Rosie understands that the troops are simply following orders and have no choice but to go to Iraq. Thus, the Bush Administration are the terrorists for sending them there.
Secondly, we have in-directly caused all those Iraqi citizens to die. Our presence in Iraq has drawn terrorists to Iraq, accidentally killed civilians in the battlefield and allowed for a civil war to occur. Honestly, was Iraq in a civil war prior to our invasion? No, I don’t think so. Thus we have created an environment that has allowed for all those innocent people to die.
Elizabeth is just a bad friend and does not know the meaning of friendship.

That's about the first principled comment I think I've ever heard that fat lesbian make. (even if it were to quell people's inevitable quips about her face, body, and dykishness)
When it comes down to the two women in question, I definitely know who I'd wanna wake up next to without going coyote ugly in the morning. It's a good thing men don't watch that show, or Rosie would've been booed off stage, and along with her, that quasi-female monster of a housewife who recited the cogent list of points for why Bush shouldn't be president, which included, ironically enough, the fact that he choked on a pretzel. It's only a matter of time before Rosie herself pulls a Momma Cass, so they should watch what they say. Her heart has to be the size of a canned ham already.

For me, it is because she is clearly perceptive, intelligent, well informed, and not afraid to lay out the uncomfortable facts........not to mention that she seems to me to be a very principled and decent person.
