could see a drop in food production since people became to dependent on them. there are insects that pollinate that aren't as much of a problem to care for. bumble bees, wood worker bees, ants, etc..

we've been covering this subject...but since we're here~

i think it might have something to do with 80% of the bees going to CA to pollinate the almond crop...not that it has anything to do with the almond trees, but that would be an ideal place and time for anything to spread.

The dissapearance of bees would certainly cause problems. This is a complex problem, and there may well be more than one cause. Certainly the parasites found in many of the dead hives are part of the problem, but they are not new, and really only are a problem in hives that are already stressed.

One possibility is the growth in cell phone use. http://www.technewsworld.com/story/56901.html
This is also not probably the only problem, but it could be a signifigant part of it.

I'm betting GM crippled the bees and made them suscetable. That or all the breeding for size/production made them susceptable. Theres word that normal size and organic bee hives are doing fine.

I bet my right hand global warming is some how implicated.

Definately an interesting theory.

Definately an interesting theory. interesting but lacking in credibility. Why would cell phones just now be having an effect? And why the distribution pattern thats observed. So far cell phone towers and HCD don't line up. (as much as I loath cell phones and would enjoy this being true...)

By explodig their inner ears, that makes perfect sense. Cell phones and bees less sense (though plausible, but the distribution patterns are what ruin the theory)

I am not disagreeing with you. But there is no way to tell what effect LONG TERM exposure will have until it actually occurs. Scientists for all their brains and knowledge can be pretty closed minded when they can't see something directly in front of them.
