The rules are simple. You are to imagine that you are a contestant on American Idol or some related type show. When you are presented with the category (i.e. 80's Music, Big Band Songs, Top 40 Hits of 2000) - you decide what it is you'd peform if you were on the show.

For example:

The Best of Elton John?

- Tiny Dancer

Songs from the 80's?
- Died in your Arms Tonight

Ok - starting now.

Songs from the 90's?

uggh american idol i despise in so many ways...

talk about glamour media creating an easy way in for someone, stuffing them down your throat, all the little sheep eating it up, and all the people who work years in the music business taking a back seat....

what a concept.

Although - this was not intended to be a debate on American Idol itself - I must respond. I don't see how creating a new access into the music business is bad for anyone. Musicians that came after the television video age had a much easier time being marketed than those who relied just on radio, right? As time's change so does technology and so does the music and popular culture landscape.

Yeah I gotta go with jerejerebinks on this one. The contestants on Idol for the most part are proffesional singers that are or had been trying to break into the business. (A few notable exceptions, i.e. Sanjaya and such)

So it really is just another outlet for them. Unfortunately for me most of the music styles IMO suck. Still they are just doing whatever it takes to make it. Is it my favorite show, by no means. This years crop especially seem rather *Yawn*. Still I have watched it in the past. On a personal note I could just do without the judges, all three of them.

As for the purpose of the link:

I would go with a rocker. Probably Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" :)

Nirvana...yes. I think I would go with Two Princes by Spin Doctor. I'm answering my own question sense you diddnt ask one.

Personally i want to see them sing a metallica song. It would be very interesting.

I can't remember ever hearing one done on Idol - but Enter Sandman was the winning song on the old Say What? Karoke that was MTV's forerunner to Idol. I have heard Turn The Page...but I've never considered that a Metallica song.
