MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. will leave the company founded by his late father at the end of the year in a shakeup certain to ignite a bidding war for NASCAR's most popular driver.

He told Dale Earnhardt Inc. on Thursday that he had decided to make the switch to another team when his contract expires

Poor step-mommy dearest. I for one and glad he is leaving if she could not give him the 51% he wanted. This is going to be hard on the company and it may see the company fail and fold. She has no one to blame but herself.
What is your thinking on this?

Jr will be taking Budweiser with him, and Truex too.

Rumor has it he'll use Hendrick engines and bodies.

Another rumor has it that DEI will merge with Robert Yates Racing.

Jr wants a championship!

I have to agree with everything Jr is going to the top and screw step mommy dearest. She will have that company run into the ground before to long.
Jr deserves better.

It can be rough on anyone working in the family business. It tends to confuse family relationships with professional ones. It's tough to be accepted as an adult sometimes when working for your mother.

Have to agree on that one. Working with family can really suck but can also be so much fun if you have the right blend.
I was watching a press conference yesterday and it was saying he doesn't want to start his own company but drive for someone else.
HMMMM he is going to be the best paid free agent out there.
Go Jr.

Third rate team driving Fords.
Let's face it, they are curently a second rate team driving Chevy's.

If not for Jr, they would not have all the sponsors they have.

I say a Menards billboard. Was Paul Menard on it?
Nope, Jr was.

The one thing that most if not all Earnhardt fans forget is Theresas role in DEI. She was a major driving force in the building of that company. She was the one that took Sr's fame and turned it into a business. She was the one that was pushing the T-shirt and ball cap sales, not Sr. He just wanted to drive. She handled the day to day business deals.

I don't think it was fair for Jr to demand 51% of a company that she helped to build. Even if it was built for the kids. Dale had 4 children. Kerry Dale, Kelly, Ralph Dale and Taylor.

Should his other children just be cut out of the family business simply because Jr wants total control?

Shortstuff, what if Jr ends up driving for Hendrick Motorsports next year? What an awesome combo of Jeff Gordon, Dale Jr, Jimmy Johnson, and Kyle Busch. Mears can find himself another team! :D :drinktoth

BTW, how about that #24!!!??? Three wins in four races!

Yeah that would make a team to reckon with Jeff and Jr..hmmmmm yeah hehe
good combo any way you look at it but Jeff has four drives already in his group and the max is four if I am not mistaken or if something has changed

Jeff is on fire right now for sure
:woohoo: :woohoo:

:

Roush-Fenway Racing has 5 drivers--Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, Jamie McMurray, and David Ragan.

I think starting next year a Cup team will only be allowed to field four cars. NASCAR wanted this because a few years ago Roush had all 5 cars in the Chase.

PS. Rumor is strong that Jr will be going to Joe Gibbs Racing. Adios to JJ Yeley if so.

Earnhardt to address driving future

By JENNA FRYER, AP Auto Racing Writer

AP - Jun 12, 4:07 pm EDT

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Earnhardt and Gordon. Names best recognized as rivals, certainly not friends.

Best buddies they may never be, but NASCAR's two biggest stars would certainly learn to get along if joined under one roof at Hendrick Motorsports.

It's an Earnhardt fan's worst nightmare. Yet all signs indicated it will happen when Junior announces his 2008 plans during a Wednesday morning news conference.

For the rest of the story click the link...Very interesting
Not sure how this will play out.

Since every Earnhardt fan seems to think Gordon is gay, I can't imagine they'd be too keen about them sharing a trailer. :)

oh my goodness........I didn't realize that Jr's going to Hendricks would mean having to share breathing air with Gordon.......oohh....to be a fly on the wall in the vicinity of those 2.

And as of about a half hour ago Jr was in second place at Michigan International Speedway.

I wouldnt worry too much about any animosity between Jr and Gordon. The first yesr could be taxing on both, but I think the competitive spirit between them will win out. Johnson, on the other hand, could be a different story...
I hope Mears doesnt take a hit over all this. The 25 car hasnt been the luckiest piece of equipment in the Hendrick stable.

Junior pulled off a 5th, which wasnt bad for his performance today. Johnson ran out of gas with 7 to go and made me a happy man.

whoo hoo.....5th isn't bad at all......much better than he has been doing....

*Psst*...Gordon and Dale Jr are friends and have been for a long time. The redneck trailer park folk that follow Dale Jr are the ones that don't like Gordon.

Congrats to Jr for a 5th place finish today.

hehe....I knew that......
never been a Gordon fan because I don't like how he gets all snippy and acts like a sore loser when he doesn't finish well. I know people can be that way sometimes, but everytime I have seen him lose and talk to the press afterwards,he's been very short and a couple times out and out rude. If he could get a handle on all that,I'd be fine with him,he is a good driver, just a sore loser most of the time

Ya put up a sig like that and you think no red blooded male isn't going to notice?

I'm only guessing, but I suspect your MySpace page counter has overloaded and blew up.
