The failure of the west, especially the US to sort out the Israeli/Palestinian conflict condemns the next generation.

heh...from the link:
"Note also that the PA schoolbook’s defining Israel as “colonialist” is an important component of the denial of Israel’s right to exist taught in the PA schoolbooks and popular culture. Teaching that Israel is a foreign European “colonial” creation is intended to give both legitimacy and zeal to the hatred and violence the PA actively inculcates among PA children."
Note: It is and the fact that the authors have a major problem with this shows what their perspective is.
The video is kind of creepy but fairly mild for propaganda. Two of the kids who called into the show were the scary ones.

For the sake of discussion, why is it the US's problem?

It is the U.S.'s problem because the U.S. brokers Israel and that gives the U.S. more influence over Israel than any other country has.
In the past the United States has not acted as an honest broker between the two sides.
If the U.S. were to apply pressure equally on the two sides there would be much more progress.

The U.S. is guilty of far more than simply *not sorting out* the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
The US political leadership actively aggravates and perpetuates the problem, by funding Israel, thus funding the Israeli's campaign of genocide against the Palestinians; which in turn is one of the primary factors inflaming the terrorists in the Middle East to target this country and its people.

Freethinker I know that jews are killing palistines but are they really comitting genocide? I do not know if I believe that. I do not believe for one second that Jews are all innocent they use human shields and stuff but I have never known them to corral up Palistinans an murder them in the masses? Any links or something for this information? I do know they have a problem with suicide bomber and they have to be very strict on the palistines..but I do not think they commit genocide.

So I guess by proving aid to the Palestinians the U.S. aggravates and perpetuates the problem with suicide bombers, as well.
I would be very happy if the U.S. would stop funding both sides. HOW ABOUT YOU?

Yeah! Its time for us Americans to stand up to our government and say this is not our fucking responsibility! And the Israeli lobby should stop influencing our government! (no..I am not anti-jew or whatever). I am talking about nations here, NOT religions.

Militant 'Mickey Mouse' pulled off air By MOHAMMED DARAGHMEH, Associated Press Writer
Hamas militants have suspended a TV program that featured a Mickey Mouse lookalike urging Palestinian children to fight Israel and work for global Islamic domination, the Palestinian information minister said Wednesday.
Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti said the character — a giant black-and-white rodent with a high-pitched voice — represented a "mistaken approach" to the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation.
He said that the program was pulled from Hamas-affiliated Al Aqsa TV at his ministry's request and "placed under review."
The character, named "Farfour," or "butterfly," but unmistakably a copy of the Disney character, preached against the U.S. and Israel each Friday on the show called "Tomorrow's Pioneers."
"You and I are laying the foundation for a world led by Islamists," Farfour squeaked on a recent episode. "We will return the Islamic community to its former greatness, and liberate Jerusalem, God willing, liberate Iraq, God willing, and liberate all the countries of the Muslims invaded by the murderers."
Children called in to the show, many singing Hamas anthems about fighting Israel.
A spokeswoman for Burbank, Calif.-based Walt Disney Co. did not return phone calls seeking comment, and the Gaza TV station had no comment.
The program was opposed by the Palestinian Broadcasting Corp., which is controlled by the Fatah movement of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, a Hamas rival that shares power with the militants in the Palestinian government.
Barghouti is an independent aligned with neither Hamas nor Fatah.
Loyalists of Hamas, which is sworn to the destruction of Israel, launched the Al Aqsa satellite channel last year. Bearded young men read the news and Islamic music is layered over footage of masked militants firing rockets into Israel. The channel also broadcasts talk shows, programs about the disabled and cartoons.
Hamas loyalists also run at least five news Web sites, a newspaper and a radio station.

How MEMRI fooled the U.S Media with its Mickey Mouse Translation
Ali Alarabi
May 14, 2007
How easy was it for MEMRI to fool so many of the US media outlets with its translation of a children program on Hamas TV, where a child was supposedly have said the words " we will annihilate the Jews"
It was very easy!
The controversy was fueled further when CNN decided to yank the video off the air because of major translation errors on part of MEMRI.
First let me just say that I reviewed the Arabic version of the MEMERI clip which looked discontinuous and disjointed because the context of the conversation in the show did not seem to be coherent. However, at the bottom of this page you will find my corrections of MEMERI translation errors.
The inflammatory words MEMRI blasted the US media with were when the young caller "Sanable" was supposed to have said "we will annihilate the Jews" were not even mentioned by the caller or by anyone else in that clip.
"Sanable actually said "The Jews are shooting us" which is entirely different word and different meaning and which makes me wonder as to where in the world the words "we will annihilate the Jews come from"
Was MEMRI actually playing verbal gymnastics? Yes indeed.
The issue here is not simply some error in the translation of this word or that, but actually making new words up and putting them in the mouth of that child to show defamatory evidence against the Palestinians.
MEMERI which stands for Middle East Media Research Institute was established by former Israeli intelligence agents, the Mossad, to police Arabic media for any evidence of anti-Israeli rhetoric.
Yegal… head of MEMRI was interviewed on CNN’S Glen Beck on his radio show and assured Beck that he stands by his translation and blasted CNN’s Arabic desk (which I am a member of) and Octavia Nasr head of the desk for uncovering the forgery by claiming that CNN’s Arabic desk do not know Arabic and they are " hiding" while he is on the other hand out there ready and willing to debate and challenge anyone for his version of the translation.
In my professional opinion, MEMRI’s "translation" is not credible and flat out forgery.
Translation is not simply transferring words from language A to language B, it involves however much more than that. It involves advanced knowledge of the culture, religious references, historical past and political history and knowledge of the subtleties of the language and its usage in different situations by different people.
Here is MEMRI’s transcripts and my corrections are in black letters.
