has anyone else noticed all the negative feedback surrounding Tom Cruise in Last Samurai. It comes out in december and I hadn't been hearding very good things about it. consequently, I went to the website (www.lastsamurai.com) to check it out for myself and i think the film looks really decent. I don't understand the negative comments cuz i'm not even into those types of films and yet i think i'll probably check it out...looks pretty good...plus, tom cruise is hot!!!

I heard about the movie towards the beginning of summer, when I heard the idea I got stoked. I saw the previews and I cant wait. I myself think the movie is going to be kick ass. What bad things can people say about it? Who cares, what they say just watch the movie!

bad reviews don't generally prevent me from going to the theatre cuz i like to have my own opinions...so regardless i'm going to check out last samurai. however, lately it seems like reviews have been getting better as we near its release. i saw the new theatrical trailer a few days ago and i just have to say that it looks amazing.

FYI:
I just found out that Tom Cruise is the first male to appear on the cover of Marie Claire...anyone see him (he looks HOT!!). Also, did anyone catch the interview on NBC Friday night w/ Tom and Katie Couric?? I meant to tape it and completely forgot. I wanted to see what he had to say about the film and whatnot.

i finally saw the Last Samurai and all i have to say is WOW!!!!!!
it could possibly be the BEST movie i have ever seen!!!!
it had all of the elements of a great film: action, suspense, romance, and even comedy. It also spoke to the audience about the courage of war all the while telling a unique love story as well. This could perhaps be Tom Cruise’s best role ever.
GO SEE IT...NOW!!!!!!
(you won't be disappointed!)

Eh. I was disappointed with an average flick when I saw this movie. Surprise, Tom Cruise was a badass sunuvabitch who emerges as a master of the Samurai way after only a few months of training.
I saw a lot of symptoms of an attempt to replicate Braveheart with long, largescale battlescenes and a heroic, idealized protagonist (Cruise, of course) who manages to win the heart of the wife of one of his victims with his irresistable studliness. Unfortunately the battles lacked the substance and unpredicatability found in Braveheart since it was difficult to tell for what reasons the "heros" were slaughtering their opponents, other than the preservation of warfare by swords instead of bullets.
Furthermore, most of the movie takes the annoyingly trendy path of belittling American and Western culture as an infection which displaced the utopian glory days of superstition, katanas, and honor.
The good points are that the movie is picturesque and well-directed, but that isn't enough to overcome the absurd message and ridiculously unbelievable paradise of ancient Japan.
If you want to call this film "intelligent," you're mixing intelligence up with bloodthirstiness.
4/10

Can you tell me which critics panned this movie, because I am completely disgusted with their opinion. I just saw this movie and damn the critics who gave this a bad review. I'm surprised such supposedly professional journalists would put such an incredible movie down. If it is true that this movie got panned by some critics, it just goes to show that you cannot listen to critics. SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!
