both book contain much wisdom in them, it's just how one interprets them. The books themselves were not written to control anybody, its the religions that are formed around the message of the books that try 2 control. You obviously don't know as much of the bible as you say if you are going to call it a book of ignorance, read proverbs, just that one book in the bible, if you can say that everything in there in ignorance, then I'd hate 2 see what u call knowledge.

Buddhists do not have anything that is the equivalent in Buddhism to the Bible in Christianity or the Q'uran in Islam, including the Noble Eightfold Path.

The Bible, the Torah, the Quran... All of them contain interesting myths and parables and quite a bit of wisdom which would be a shame to not pass on. How could there be anything wrong with "Love thy neighbor"?

That is not to say that these books are completely correct. They have a bit of historical value and a lot of cultural value, but are also filled with outdated "laws".

I agree with SeanJohn here (welcome to Allforums by the way), in that the books themselves are not meant to control anyone, it is the religions that have sprung up around the books that have corrupted the message into one of power mongering.

Nope that is not true. Everyone is equal here. No one is better than anyone else. I just think some people are in the dark about some things and I expose what they do not want to face and people don't like it. Phyrex is right the Quran was created in the 600's. I say "created" cause Muslims believe that these verses were said by God, that were sent through the angel Gabriel to Prophet Mohammed (May Peace and Prayers Be Upon Him), and that he would recite the verses to the people (as he didn't know how to write nor read) and they would memorize it or write it down. Just an fyi ;)

It's not okay to beat your wife or treat women as unequal to men. Some rules that may seem unfair do have a point behind them. I'd be more than glad to explain...
