Hi Mates;
Tell me about some of your favorite places to travel.
Where, when and how long.
I love to travel and I have done a fair bit of it.
For me coming to Canada was a really blessing.
I love it here mates.
The Sheila's here are fine.
Shortstuff included :flowers:
One of the trips I took was too a place called Vancouver, BC
This city has so much to offer.
The sea food was to die for.
Might post a few pictures of my trip later.

Well man I'm glad you like Canada.
Really didn't work out for me though. Big family vacation, two years ago, sucked big hairy donkey balls. The wife and I are still suffering financially from it too.
We just don't travel much as we are dirt ass poor. My dad lives in Georgia, and we have friends in Tennessee. Other than that aint much travellin going on.

Some of the Caribbean Islands are nice, especially St. Lucia. It is below the hurricane belt, always warm and the people are ultra-friendly.
Parts of Europe are great. The northern and central part of Italy are wonderful, Rome, Venice, Pisa, Florence, especially Venice and Florence.
Germany and Austria are also nice and the people are very friendly.
Your neighboring country of New Zealand is probably the physically most beautiful country in the world.
If you want to be able to drive to a destination the Smokey Mountains of the Southeastern U.S. are awe inspiring in their beauty.
Hawaii isn't all it's cracked up to be. The beaches suck, coral, riptides, sharks, and other than Honolulu the rest of the place is pretty rural with little to do other than eat plate lunches. (something else that's not all it's cracked up to be.)
You can always go back home for a visit and have some of those great Jester's meat pies.

My uncle has a place in the Honduras.
I have been there a few times and love it.
The beaches are to die for. My cousin and I walked into the village and at night the streets come alive with music and the local people start dancing and having like a party outside. It was so much fun.
Me and my cousin got dance lessons for this couple and it was kind of interesting to watch them dance. Kind of hot actually.
Yeah it was a good trip. Very very hot though and not sure I could stay there much more then a week or so.

We like visiting Lake Michigan and for big city fun, Chicago.
There's only one lake. There's only one city. :)

I agree with Frogger, St. Lucia is just gorgeous. I stayed on the southern end, in Soufrierre, away from major hubbub and it's very relaxing, beautiful, friendly, great food. Not as inexpensive as Mexico (to stay at) which I like also.
Would love to do the Europe thing eventually - I just can't get my mind off the tropics though - I need the warmth.

My wife and I used to go to one of the Caribbean Islands every winter but now that we have a winter place in Florida we tend to go to other places. We enjoy spending short, three day or so vacations. This year we spent three days in both Charleston and Savannah and will be going to Branson sometime in the summer. We are also thinking of going to Prague but haven't made up our minds yet.

Prague will be longer than 3 days, yes? (j/k) (My Great-Grandma was born some place just outside of there - I forget the name of that town though)
The 3-4 day vacation thing sounds really good - Have you ever been on Site59? They have great deals for those last minute, short, getaways. I've been throwing that my sister's why to hopefully light a travel bug in her but she's not bit yet. Savannah is on my top 5 list of places to go in the states (worth it?) And, how was Charleston? When I was in Jamaica I met a really great person who lives there and operates a couple of Swing Dance/Supper Club type places and she really talked it up. What says you?

Both Charleston and Savannah are nice. I happen to think Charleston is a bit less tacky than Savannah. Both places have some pretty good restaurants. In Charleston look for them on Queen Street. In Savannah stay away from The Lady and Sons. That is Paula Dean's place, you know, Paula Dean of the Food Network. You wait in line for an hour in the morning in order to get a reservation for the afternoon and once you get inside the food simply isn't all that good. For a far better meal go to The Pink House. The riverfront is nice in Savannah if a bit touristy.

Sorry, Frogger, but I disagree about Hawaii. Far as I'm concerned, Maui is as close to paradise as one can get. When I worked for an airline, went there 4 times in one year, staying 2 weeks on the longest visit and still didn't wanna leave!
Loved that laid-back lifestyle.
Caribbean is nice, too, although I found the 'natives' generally very rude. Liked Aruba... before it became famous for missing teenage girls.

Hawaii was just okay, definitely not worth the long plane ride.
Aruba is nice but a bit dry and windy for my taste. It used to be more pleasant before Hugo Chavez took over in Venezuela. Since it is so clost to Venezuela lots of their people vacationed there. They were very pleasant at the time. I doubt they would be as pleasant today.

Jasper, Banff area has some of the best place to hike.
Johnston canyon is very cool.

St. Maarten was beautiful and I loved having two distinct 'sides' to visit. But the people there were sooooo rude. An example? The shuttle driver at the resort I stayed at was driving us around and we told him we wanted to see the 'other' pools. (Brochures said 3) He kept saying, "CLOSE" over and over and we kept saying, "Well, how close? Just take us there."
Finally it dawned on us he meant CLOSED... luckily just before he was probably gonna pull a knife and cut us!!
That's why I always liked Hawaii best. Give me that good ole American soil.

I lived in NYC in '85. It's a world unto its own.
I'll never go back since the towers fell. I have a friend that has an apartment in Tribeca , she says it's sooo very weird there now.
The adirondacks in upsate NY are nice. Good for camping, hiking, boating, fishing and sightseeing. Went to the Americade in '92 with some biker friends then to Mass. hehe great times.
In the Smokys now and O so beautiful! I think I've found a place to call home for awhile. All kinds of things here to do to boot.

I've read the posts about all the different placed that are really cool to go.
My favorite place is right here where I'm at in Los Angeles. I've lived here most of my life, and still havent seen all there is to see here. There's rolling hills, valleys, lakes, rivers, and streams. There's mountains that never melt their snow, deserts that havent seen a drop of water in a hundred years. Sandy beaches and a fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean. We even have a tropical island all our own. We have amusement parks and amusing poeple, Hollywood and the porn industry. New world and old world all rolled into one.
Everything I ever wanted is all in one place. And I havent even left the county.

My fav places, hmm,
well at home here, Id say, a place called Meenlaragh Co. Donegal or
Newcastle Co Down.
Meenlaragh is in the Gaeltacht, so a bit of Irish is handy, its very remote and the scenery is stunning.
Newcastle cause its handy, kids love the beach and the mountains.
Lived in London a couple of years, fantastic place, sightseers heaven. Crazy people, got my eyes open to the big bad world there, hehe.

that's kinda like a Disney World employee taking two weeks at Disneyland, isn't it?
WV always reminded me of Michigan's U.P., but hilly'r. God's Country with a town every 10 miles.
speaking of Disney...when my sister worked for them, i got in free, and it still almost bankrupted me :(

I say you're wasting your time if you don't take that truck down Halstead to Kingston Mines, definitely, although I've had quite a bit of fun at Cafe Absinthe too. Chicago is just a GREAT city overall. But those are just a couple of my favorite places. And, oh yeah! The Red Head Piano Bar - a BLAST!!

St. Martin/St. Maarten has some of the best food in the Caribbean, SMW. The town of Grand Case is an epicurean's dream come true, especially a little place called Le Pressoir (sp.) The crepes served down by the harbor are also great.
When we were there we used to go to a little French bakery for breakfast. They had the best croissants and real European coffee. We also would stop for a meal at a lolo, those little roadside eateries where they would barbecue meat over a split oil can barbecue. We once got two half racks of ribs, salad, fries, bread and a coke for twelve dollars American.
NYC is probably the world's best tourist destination. There is nothing like the museums or Broadway, Chinatown, Little Italy, The Village, Southstreet Seaport, Radio City Music Hall, Carnegy Hall. If you are going there soon, SMW there are some great places to eat. Beldario's near the corner of 50th and 8th is owned by the son of the owner of Rao's and has a fixed price lunch menu. If you want to spend a ton of money for the best Italian food you have ever eaten try Il Mulino in Greenwich Village. You will spend over $100 for lunch and drinks for two people but it is worth it. Try Peter Luger's for steak but stay away from Gallagher's Steakhouse. It is crowded and noisy and the wait staff is surley. If you like good pizza cross the Brooklyn Bridge and go to Grimaldi's. It is near the river. If you want to see a Broadway play get your tickets at the tikets outlet. They are much cheaper. You might even want to see if they have any twofers at the New York Public Library. Many libraries have them at the front desk.
The Adirondaks are beautiful any time of year. I used to own seventeen acres right in the park but my wife hated it so I sold it. It was great, five acres of open meadow, two trout streams and the rest hemlock and maple forest.

Id like to hit up NYC one of these days. As for over seas, Im in Korea right now, not too bad, Id like to go to Japan, China, and Australia while im here, but we'll see.

It was kind of weird lying on the beach and having planes flying what seemed like just a few feet over your head. The dock near the beach was a good place to snorkel though.

Hawaii is fantastic, as long as you stay away from Oahu....WAY too touristy there......Maui is getting to be the same way...Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii are the two best, for different reasons obviously. They both have so much to offer and so peaceful. The beaches are fantastic and when you find, and can get to, the secluded ones.....OMG, it's heaven on earth.
Also.....loved Wyoming..Jackson area....Grand Tetons are awesome as well as Yellowstone. I know it's touristy, especially near Old Faithful, but you can't beat the scenery and the wildlife in the area.
About an hour and a half outside Jackson, over in Idaho is a little town called Lava Hot Springs....you really need to check out that town's natural hot pools. You'll never wanna leave!!
