Hello all,
Rosie had a one year contract and it is up at the end of this season. ABC offered her a 3 year contract but Rosie stated on her blog that she wants only a 1 year contract. They could not meet in the middle so all you Republicans will be happy to know that Rosie will not be on the view next year. However Rosie is think of starting another show so if you think this is the end of Rosie...HA HA HA!! NEVER!!
Also the catholics are trying to match al sharpton and Jesse Jackson because Rosie made fun of them because of the whole limbo issue and say thier "For Family" agenda is trying to scare sponsers away from the view to get rid of Rosie.
Which I find funny because Joy made much worse comments about catholics than Rosie did that day but of course no one is trying to get rid of Joy ROFLMAO.
It isn't working ABC will keep Rosie on the show until the end of her contract.
I guess there is a limit to the extortion you can use on advertizers LOL.

"The timing of the announcement doesn't particularly suit O'Donnell if she wants to remain in daytime television. She wouldn't be able to introduce a new program to the syndication market until September 2008, he said. But the company that produced O'Donnell's long-running daytime show has expressed interest in having her back, he said."
She will be back on the air in september on her own show on ABC
Story Highlights• Rosie O'Donnell leaving "The View" in June
• NEW: ABC wanted three-year deal, O'Donnell wanted one
• O'Donnell has been controversial, ratings-grabbing addition
• Barbara Walters: "We have had ... an interesting year"
On CNN Headline Prime: Donald Trump on Rosie O'Donnell's "View" departure, "Showbiz Tonight," 11 p.m. ET.
Adjust font size:
NEW YORK (AP) -- Rosie O'Donnell's stormy tenure on "The View" will be a short one. The opinionated host was unable to agree on a contract with ABC, and she'll leave the show in June.
O'Donnell said on the show Wednesday that she wanted to stay for one more year, and ABC wanted three. So she decided to leave, although she said she will appear occasionally next season for things like a planned one-hour special on autism.
"It just didn't work," she said, "and that's show biz. But it's not sad because I loved it here and I love you guys and I'm not going away." (Watch the impact of O'Donnell's departure )
O'Donnell has helped raise the ratings for the daytime chat show invented by Barbara Walters. But her outspokenness has caused almost constant controversy, including a nasty name-calling feud with Donald Trump that placed Walters squarely in the middle.
"I induced Rosie to come back to television on 'The View' even for just one year," Walters said before "The View" aired. "She has given the program new vigor, new excitement and wonderful hours of television. I can only be grateful to her for this year."
"We have had, to say the least, an interesting year," Walters added on the program.
Walters said she had nothing to do with the decision, reached after talks between representatives for ABC Daytime and O'Donnell.
"This is not my doing or my choice," she said.
Walters was frequently left to clean up the damage after O'Donnell. She did it most recently Monday, when O'Donnell was criticized for using bad language and attacking Rupert Murdoch from the dais of the annual New York Women in Communication awards luncheon.
"I would like to point out that Rosie's view is not always mine," Walters said. "I would like to say for the record that I am very fond of Rupert Murdoch."
In the Trump imbroglio, O'Donnell was reportedly mad that Walters did not come more swiftly to her defense, while Trump said Walters told him she didn't want O'Donnell on the show -- a claim Walters denied.
Trump quickly went on Fox News Channel Wednesday to claim that O'Donnell was fired by ABC because of remarks made at the Women in Communications luncheon. (He'll be on CNN Headline News' "Showbiz Tonight" Wednesday night.)
"Barbara's the happiest person in the world that Rosie's been fired," Trump said.
Cindi Berger, spokeswoman for both O'Donnell and Walters, denied Trump's claim, wondering how he would know what had happened in contract talks between O'Donnell and ABC.
"She wasn't going to commit to anything for three years and they would not commit to her for one more," Berger said. Locking in O'Donnell to a three-year deal could protect ABC from year-to-year increases if the ratings continue to be good for the show.
Despite controversy -- or maybe because of it -- O'Donnell was good business for ABC, owned by the Walt Disney Co. Ratings for "The View" during February sweeps were up 15 percent in key women demographics over the same time in 2006.
Bill Carroll, an expert in the syndication market for Katz Television, said he'd be surprised if ABC didn't try hard to keep O'Donnell, given the attention she brought to the long-running show.
The timing of the announcement doesn't particularly suit O'Donnell if she wants to remain in daytime television. She wouldn't be able to introduce a new program to the syndication market until September 2008, he said. But the company that produced O'Donnell's long-running daytime show has expressed interest in having her back, he said.
O'Donnell has discussed acting on the FX show, "Nip/Tuck." But she has not decided what she wants to do in TV in the future, Berger said.
O'Donnell made headlines repeatedly for comments on "The View," and for testy exchanges with her more conservative partner, Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
She criticized "American Idol" in January for airing humiliating auditions. "Isn't that what America thinks of entertainment? To make fun of someone's physical appearance. And when they leave the room, laugh hysterically at them. Three millionaires, one probably intoxicated."
She accused fellow ABC daytime host Kelly Ripa of making a homophobic remark, said "radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America" and has been critical of President Bush.
Statements by public figures are being watched more closely in the post-Don Imus era. The lobbying group Focus on the Family said it was preparing to contact advertisers on "The View" as part of a campaign against O'Donnell. The group is angry at O'Donnell for comments they feel were insulting to Catholics.

I cant believe you havent watched TV in a year. Do you mean you havent seen one second of TV or you havent sat down and watched an entire show? I dont tend to believe people who say they dont watch TV. In this society you can try to not watch TV but eventually you are going to come in contact with a TV that is turned on at some point. Like in a waiting room somewhere or in a store or a restaraunt.

Well I own TVs two actually but I might watch the odd show once and a while or the music channel for noise. My TV gets used to watch DVD's on and not traditional TV. I mean I am not against TV but just don't find time to watch it. I have other things I spend my time doing.
About a year ago I could tell you every show on ever channel and had a line up of favorites but now I couldn't tell you when any of those shows are on.

Hmm, that seems to conflict with the fact that the ratings were higher with her on the show than they were before they joined. Maybe most of the people answering that poll were people who did watch The View before or after Rosie joined. Their probably the same pathetic bunch who can't stand other people having the freedom to watch/listen to something they don't like. Like the sissy's who forced Imus out of a job.

The Jerry Springer Show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jerry_Springer_Show) has been on for 16 years and is still going
In its heyday (the late 1990s) the show was quite popular (and controversial), so much so that it caused contemporaries like Jenny Jones, Maury Povich, and Ricki Lake to "revamp" their own shows in order to improve ratings. Incidentally, the popularity of the "trash TV" talk shows led to a decline in the number of game shows that had traditionally been broadcast on weekday mornings.
By 1996 to early 1998, when the show reached its peak, the show was nonstop fighting between guests so after a FCC probe was done; for a while the fighting was taken off on the show. However, it came back by popular demands and lowering of ratings.

You are welcome, however it does not seem to prove your point. Perhaps I misunderstand you. You seem to be saying that the Jerry Springer show is no longer around or is no longer popular. Neither are true. Granted, the show is not as popular as it once was, but it is sufficiently popular that it is still on the air and generating ad revenues.

This says that they took the fighting off and the ratings dropped. Then they brought the fighting back because of "popular demand" and to increase ratings.

Though - if Rosie comes out and tells Barbara she slept with Joy - they all get in a bitch fight and Elizabeth flashes the camerea - I will never again miss an episode. In fact, I'd probably dedicate my wallpaper, myspace background, and a full chest tatoo to the show.

The View never jumped the shark. While I am impressed you are familiar with the term - I don't think you understand it exactly. When a program has jumped the shark - it has no chance of rebounding from it's current place. All the view has to do is replace Rosie.

Rosie was just as fat and unattractive when she first got her own show and people adored her. She was known as, 'The Queen of Nice'. People only stopped liking Rosie when she metamorphed into, 'The Queen of Nastiness'. It is not her only her opinions that turn people off but the ultra-nasty way in which she voices them.

You can't blame the "minority" for being more vocal on thier opinion.
People who are pissed are the most likely people to complain, thats just a fact. They're the ones who yell the loudest. Look at Imus, polls showed that most people thought he shouldn't be fired, but he was fired because the LOUD minority put pressure on sponsors.
Of course, this is all under the assumption that Rosie was "fired" because of public pressure, instead of a mutual decision...I don't know. If that was the case, I don't "blame the minority for being more vocal" (though what they should do is just change the channel, its the American way). I blame ABC and the sponsors for caving in.

Joy Behar does not share all of Rosie's views. Most of what Rosie has been attacked for has been for things Joy has not said or has disagreed with.
Have you even watched the show or seen the full show in which these comments were made? Because I have and I can tell you that you are wrong.
Joy is a Democrat, and shares some views with Rosie, but she is nowhere near as extreme in her views as Rosie is. Thus, Rosie gets a bad reputation for being more extreme with her views and I respect Rosie for having the courage to share those views.
You always seem to attack people for things you don't know anything about. You attack Madonna and call her a has-been, even though her 2006 tour was the highest-grossing female concert of all time. Yes, Overdose. You are right. It is all about the content. Rosie is a sweet woman who just happens to be hated because she is an overweight lesbian. It has nothing to do with the way she acts.
Why didn't I see that before? I am so glad you set me straight.

Adctually, Overdose, it is more the way she shares them than her views. She is strident, overbearing, pushy and just generally nasty. Joy Behar shares her views yet Joy isn't disliked like Rosie is.
Yes unlike Rush Limbagh, sean Hannity and Bill O'rilly
Did you hear Rosie say that Bill O'Rilly threatened her. Back when there was a big scandle on ol' bill she brought it up on the view and later got a call from ol'Bill and he said "If you ever talk about the scandel againt, I will put you in my crosshairs"
WOW man.. talk about terrorist type threats on people to keep thier mouth shuts.
warrior1972

I mean, you just say shit when you don't have your facts straight, typically about female stars in which you have beef against.
Yes you are totally right. Joy made very controvesial statements about Catholics and Limbo and Rosie said some things but the Cathololics only target Rosie for her comments.
It is because Rosie is gay..and public and promoting being openly gay that the church wants her gone not because she bashed the whole limbo thing.

Glad you see it my way.
Joy does not get attacked because she does not hold the same views as Rosie.
I've watched the show in full. You haven't. I know what is and what isn't said by both Joy and Rosie. They are both different. Thus, Rosie is attacked for her more extreme views.
Face it. You don't know what you are talking about since you don't watch the show or haven't see the episodes in their entireity.

Why do all issues have to be raises around sexuality.
Just because she is what ever orientation she may choose to be that does not mean everyone is going to like everyone. It is not always a sexual or racial reason as some may try and spin it.
I choose to not watch her as I sometimes find her loud and obnoxious. That is not to say she may not be good at what she does. It is most defiantly not because she is a lesbian or for any other reason. You either click with someone or you don't case closed.

content was the word you used, not conduct. the whole point of your argument is that people hate rosie for her content (of speech) and not for her conduct (like a pig). The point I am making is, Rosie is being treated no differnelty then Rush. They both get attacked for what they say. The only difference seems to be rosie and her followers dont seem to used to it and so over react as you have done. '
So someone disagrees with Rosie and said she should be fired, get over it. If she has a strong message and can hold her own she will make it without being propped up by the mainstream media. If she is just another liberal hack spouting off at the mouth things she hears second hand she will dissapear, again.

"He's like the Rosie O'Donnell right now of NASCAR," Gordon said, comparing Stewart to the politically incorrect comedienne. "Controversy is something that he's been used to, and to me it brings a lot of flair to the sport."
This week, it was a flair NASCAR could have done without. "I think it's very disappointing," Hunter said, "when a very successful guy attacks the integrity of the sport that he's done quite well in."

Her views aren't even Crazy. They don't even merit THAT much
consideration.Saying that the white House plotted to

Saying that Christianity causes far more Death & Destruction than

She virtually Lives to be an attention seeker and Loudmouth lout,

For all the reichwing mouth-breathers who are atwitter at the thought of the e-ville Roseanne Barr replacing Rosie O'Donnell.............not to worry.
Roseanne will no doubt say a few things mildly critical of the State and of the status quo, at which point she will --in the time honored tradition of public discourse in the gool 'ol Yew Ess of by gawd Aye-- be summarily kicked off the show; just as all the other people that have espoused anything approaching a "leftist" viewpoint have been removed from the airwaves.
They HAVE TO, of course, be removed before they might have the effect of causing the sheep to begin to think for themsleves.
"Liberal Media" my ass.

The idea that there is a huge so-called "liberal Media" operation in this country that is equal in power to and acting as a counterbalance to the flagwaving, mainstream, whitebread, status-quo Corporate-owned-and-controlled Media is a preposterous farce. It is a myth and an effort to further push us into a divisive mentality meant to create conflict and population division.
