OK - just saw that other thread. I'm not a big fan of Rosanne either - her voice is grating, to me.

I'm not a big fan of Rosanne either - her voice is grating, to me.That's too bad.
I guess maybe you'll have to watch something other than The View.

I don't watch it now - lol. I don't care who they fire or hire really. But certain peoples personas grow past the show so you hear about it. Do you watch it? Which is your preference?

I don't watch it now - lol. I don't care who they fire or hire really.Sorry, but when you posted I just can't stand her constant squawking. STFU and live your life for cryin' out loud I gained the impression that you did. There was a poll here recently where 15 members expressed the opinion that Rosie should be fired. I thought for sure you were one of them. Again, my apologies.Do you watch it?No.

The unwashed masses will always find the voice of certain personalities in the Media and entertainment industry *grating* whenever any of them fails to -any time the subject should come up- fawningly pay homage to the flag.....and to the rightwing power structure....and to all things American.....and Gawd......and Country.

Ack, thanks but don't worry about it - no apology even necessary:thumbs:

ok. But really, free, it has nothing to do with her politics at all - her actual voice just grates on me. They both sound like they're squawking. Give me some Rightwingers whose voices grate on you and I might agree too. Even so, I'm not strictly "rightwing" Republican anyway.

Ok. For you.
But most of the dimwitted fucks in this country who hate her and make jokes about her wieght and her appearance do so for strictly political reasons; she says things they do not like hearing; ergo they hate her for it.
It matters not the slightest that what she is saying might be compelling or trenchant or that it might be true; the only salient point is that it confronts the sheep's unrelentingly conservative, God-n-Country worldview, and they are immediately moved to abject hatred.
If she came on the television show *The View* tommorrow morning and --convincingly-- stated for the record that she had undergone a complete political transformation and that she was no longer gay, that she adores G.W. B*sh and that she 100% supports the war and that she wanted us to nuke the eville tuuurrists, the same people who hated her today would never make another comment about her being ugly or fat. They'd jump up and down and applaud her until their hands were bleeding. And she'd probably be re-instated to The View, if she promised to never ever again say anything uncomplimentary about God, guns, rightwing politicians or the war.
That is the way that the Amuurican info-tainment industry is structured; if you're fawningly complimentary to the status quo and Jeezus and Motherhood and the military, you can do no wrong. Step out of line and criticize or question any of the above, and it's -- "You're fired! Get off the air!!".

Free, I get your point and I agree with you that many people go immediately for the jugular based on political points of view. I will say that I don't buy into her thought process but it does come down to squawking, IMO. I think, for me with Rosie, it's her delivery, I don't think you need to be loud and rude to get your point across. My closest friends are liberals and we get along just fine coversing the subject and respecting the others opinions without having to cut each other off, not let the other voices be heard, etc. I have no problems watching, who are they? wait, yeah, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, etc. Have I been clear about my meaning? I definitely think faster than I type so I can leave loose ends sometimes.

From the 5:00 minute mark to the end of the video is Madonna teaching Rosie breathing and yoga.
SO funny to watch Rosie do yoga.
Haha. Some funny stuff right there.
If I ever sat and watched Madonna teach Rosie yoga and enjoyed it I would hope someone would shoot me in the head and put me out of my misery.

The difference is that you and your firiends are in a private setting. No one is going to yank you out of the house and throw you into the street if you dare to question something the sainted Conservative leadership is doing.
Roise OTOH is (i.e., was) on television; and if you are going to go on the public airwaves and present leftwing --or anything approaching leftist-- views in THIS gawd-fearing, flag-waving, follow-the-crowd-and-keep-your-dissent-to-yourself country, you had better state it -- (a) assertively, and (b) very quickly........because you will be silenced (and/or villified and/or sent death threats and/or hounded out of the info-tainment industry) in very short order.
As Phil Donahue found out when he began to allow his evil "liiiiberal" worldview to come to the surface........as countless other people in this country who have failed to toe the God-n-Country line have found out. As Gore Vidal found out. As Noam Chomsky found out. As Howard Zinn found out. As Michael Parenti found out. As Rosie is finding out as we speak. As Roseanne will find out very soon.

Free, I still think it is her delivery not her message (although the conspiracy issues - oya) She's just too overbearing. There are entire liberal shows who's hosts are still in place and not found nearly as despicable as Rosie but more respected even though opposed to.
And, no, lol, no. No one is going to toss me out on the street - lol. BUT, if I did start to become consistently loud and monopolizing entire conversations in an annoyed and foreceful tone you bet I would be asked to leave. And if I didn't, over time I'm sure the door would be locked before my arrival.

I think if OD ever found a funny thought, it would be so new to him, he'd think it was a message from God.

In order for that analogy to be accurate one would have to point out that you also think that Chocolate is dog shit and someone just offered you a Hershey Bar.
