Just because someone is getting help from the government does not mean they are second class citizens.
They try to bann alcohol too from people on public housing.

Shit when I had roommates, we didn't let them smoke inside. Always gotta be treated special, let me tell you.

That is different than being in your own apartment where no one else is affected by your smoke? PS I do not smoke.

Sure it does. If you are expecting me or some other taxpayer to subsidize your lifestyle you are a second class citizen. That doesn't mean you should lose your right to vote or your freedom of speech or any of the other things that come with being a citizen but you sure as hell aren't a first class citizen.
These people are not living in their own homes. They are living is subsidized housing, housing that has at least part of its cost paid by people other than those living there. When you choose to live in subsidized housing you give up some of the freedoms people have when they live in their own homes. A man's home might be his castle, but it isn't as much his castle if he expects someone else to pay for it.

and someone was vaulching for you that you are an ethical person or good person. ROFLMAO
perfect example of class discrimination.
Because someone is disabled they are a second class citizen? They loose rights because of something they have no control over?
Man you really stooped low this time.
I can't take anything you say seriously anymore. Man..
And just so you know.. I paid taxes for 15 years. I paid my own medicaid insurcane and social security for 15 years. YOu are not paying my bills. I paid into my own bills for 15 years.

Oh hush warrior. This is a non-issue. There are many apartment buildings in which renters are not allowed to smoke because they do not own the apartment and the owners prefer that they did not. This is the exact same concept.
And please don't tell me that you disagree with that concept too... I can hear it now... "Just becuz they r to poor to live in a house dosent mean they shudn't be abel to smoke!!!111"
warrior1972
04-24-2007, 06:23 PM
If that was the issue than I understand. If the all housing is made to be non smoking due to say tenge yellow stains on the ceiling or blinds or the smell ruins the ability to re-rent the apartment
but this is not what these people are saying.
They are saying because they need help and assistance that they cannot smoke in thier own home. They are saying they cannot do something that is legal in thier own personal space because they are on tax dollars.
DarkFantasy96
04-24-2007, 06:33 PM
Who gives a shit what reason they give? The point is that these people have no real right to do "whatever they want" in their home if it is not actually their property.

Once again you are wrong, wrong, wrong.
They are not being told they cannot smoke because they need help and assistance. They are being told they cannot smoke because it is annoying and a health hazard to other tenants.
How do the folk on welfare, get the money to buy cigarettes and alcohol?
Frogger

Some of them have different priorities than you or I do. Rather than purchase less expensive, healthy food they go out and buy junk food. They sell some of their food stamps for money to buy beer and cigarettes.
Some people need temporary assistance and use the food stamps to put food on the table for themselves and their kids but others make food stamps and welfare a way of life.
When I was working we used to give full Thanksgiving dinners to local families in need. Some of the families truely needed the free dinners and were thankful for them. Others simply took them because they were free. I remember one time when a school nurse and I delivered a full Thanksgiving dinner to a woman's house, a house she wasn't paying to live in because the government paid her rent. When we arrived she and her two teenage children were sitting on a couch watching t.v.. We gave her the food and she looked through it. She complained about the size of the turkey and the fact that it was frozen and not fresh. She complained about the choice of vegetables we gave her. In short, she complained about almost the entire gift meal.
There was no reason for this woman to be sitting on her ass during the middle of the day. She didn't have young children to care for. Her youngest was sixteen and the other kid was eighteen or nineteen yet here were the three of them sitting on their asses watching t.v.. It is welfare abusers like this who give the welfare program itself a bad name.
All able bodied people should be told to either work or starve. We should not be giving public assistance to people simply because they don't want to work.

You're a nicer person than me, Frogger.
I'd have smacked her in the head with the free frozen bird until she learned better manners.
PS. Poor kids have my sympathy. But able bodied adults who are fully capable of supporting themselves and are STILL poor after many many years, well, a body has to WONDER.........

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't there a way the govt. can moniter that?
story of ungrateful wench That's a shame.
We made it a practice to stock up our freezer and once a week cook a HUGE meal, then deliver them to our older neighbors. They appreciciated it and didn't complain.

Instead of them just sitting around watching tv all day, they should be out picking up litter off the roads or somesuch.

Near where I grew up, there were people known as "two for ones" that made a living giving cash to food stamp recipients for the food stamps. The rate of exchange was $1 for $2 worth of stamps (hence the name... of course it should have been"one for twos"... lol). The area they operated in was where the package stores were located. Of course it was illegal, but it's also nothing new.

there wasn't when they used paper, now that most states have switched to a debit card with the users photo on it, fraud has been greatly reduced.
no change, and if a store gets caught letting anyone but the smiley face on the card use it, they face heavy fines that will make them regret it.
the only way i can think of to defraud the system now, that i can think of, is to resell the food.

The State can attach whatever conditions it wants to welfare recipients; People are not entitled to welfare.

Just because 10 percent of people on welfare abuse the system does not mean eveyone is doing it. Frogger just because you did not see that woman in a wheel chair doesn't mean she was not disabled. I don't think it is right for her to complain but for you to assume she is just sitting on her ass is wrong. She could have mental health issues that you could not see. You are so quick to assume someone is trying to cheat and screw you over. You do not see good in people.
Why shouldn't people on welfare have some enjoyment in thier lives like ciggs and alcohol. I mean you sound like a nazi. I have a right to destress my day with a glass of wine.
And yes healthy food is 3 times more expensive than chips and coke and junk food. Chicken legs with 30 percent more fat is 1/2 the price of chicken breast. Lean hamburger meat is 2 times more expensive that meat wit 37 percent fat in it. Pasta and high carbs are extremly cheap while fruits and vegetable cost way to much.

I guess her teenage children were disabled too since they also were sitting on their asses watching television.

No you don't. Not if you are asking me to pay for it. Cigarettes cost about five dollars a pack. That five dollars should go to buying food for the table.

Healthy food cost more than junk food but it is also more filling. Eat a bag of chips and you are still hungry. Eat a serving of broccoli and you are filled. It is much better to spend money of healthy food rather than on empty calories, cigarettes and wine.

What the hell is bigotted about saying teenage children can get a job to help support their family? You have called me a bigot more than once. Now put up or shut up. Explain what is bigotted about wanting teenagers receiving free handouts to get off their asses and help the family by getting an after school job. Either that or shut the fuck up.:upyours:
