Was that your backyard? I hope you don't have dogs as they tend to annoy bears, a lot, dammit.

No. I grabbed those pics off the net a long time ago. I tried to find out the story behind it, but was only able to determine that it was totally unstaged and genuine, at least that was the claim.

I think that bear's going to be disappointed when he finds out what's in there.

I think Id be heading the other direction if that guy was in my back yard.

Actually bird seed is a fine source of food for black bears. They are omnivorous, and opportunistic. It is also harder to keep them out of bird feeders than it is to exclude squirrels.

A bear must be 100 times bigger than a squirrel

They are much bigger than squirrels, and quite willing to destroy the bird feeder to get at the seeds.

I read recently that the American grey squirrel is taking over in the UK. It seems the native Red just cant compete with the grey, maybethey should have a 'bash an american' squirrel day once a year.

Well, if you guys ever sort out your gun and hunting laws, you could take a direct role in controlling the squirell population and the little tree rats are mighty fine eating, dammit.

Kinda makes me wonder if any of those bear bags we hoisted 30 feet into the air while camping would have done a damn bit of good.

My scout leader was a half-mentally handicapped fellow like Forrest Gump, so we didn't always set up camp in a mundane way. When an intruder came onto the camp, trained bears would fly out of bags hidden in the trees and crush them.

Take that Ranger Dan!

I dont think the American grey squirrel has invaded Ireland just yet, tho we're next in line, rabbits are more of a problem here.
