Well, finally after about a 3 month waiting period me and my dad went in this morning and took our citizenship test. My mom did it earlier then us and she passed successfully. My dad went in first, then they called me in, and asked to verify the stuff I wrote in the application. After she asked to read a sentence and then write one down. Both were very easy of course. After she proceded to ask me about 7 random questions about the US. I missed one unfortunately but I passed, which is the important thing. I missed who was the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Now I know...John Roberts. Noneoftheless, it was an interesting experience. Now the swearing in will happen in about a month or so...

That is so awesome, congratulations.
You and your family deserve this and that is a great feeling to know it is done and over.

Congratulations Drac.
Thats a major obstacle that you can now put behind you. Just think... You can toss the green card after the ceremony and call yourself a real live honest to goodness American, and nobody can say otherwise. (I know you're technically there now, but the ceremony i something special).
On another note, did you know that most people born here couldn't pass the test to save their lives?

Thanks all. Ride, the questions are not that hard at all, and not only that, they give you a manual which you can study, then you go in and take the test. The questions are exactly the same as the ones from the manual...so all you got to do is read it a few times...if you have no common knowledge about the US, and you're set.

It is still a huge accomplishment to answer those questions under pressure. That's why you missed one.
They should hand that manual out to the general public. When my mum became a Canadian citizen she knew more than most of our Canadian born neighbours.

Like I'm supposed to know who the Cheif Justice is? I thought it was the lady that died a couple of years ago.
Reminds me of Cheech Marin in the movie "Born in East LA"
"Who's the Predident of the United States?"
"That dude from Death Valley Days... John Wayne!"

I could not pass that test without the manual, I'm sure.
Congrats, Drac! Pizza and beer to celebrate!

Thank you all. It means a lot for me. I will be celebrating once we're sworn in, though this was the "toughest" part of becoming a citizen.

Congratulations, Drac. I am happy and honored to welcome you, your mother and your father as fellow Americans.

Congrats, I keep meaning to fill out those citizenship forms. I've lived in the US for 13 years, it's about time I became a citizen instead of a resident alien.

You're an alien, Drew? Do you have antennae? Do you go around at night probing people with weird instruments?

Drac!! Good to hear it. Never knew you weren't a citizen, but it's good to know that you're one now.
