What ship?

Oh, THAT ship.

thanks paul. :)just think, if Rosie The Fat were on board, the ship would have sank a LOT faster and not only that, Jack AND Rose both would have died. there's not a door in the Universe that could've held the modern day Moby Dick

That Alfred Rowe fellow looked nothing like Leonardo DiCapprio.
I am very disappointed.

It leaves me thinking now; what ELSE in that movie was a lie?

There are far bigger ocean liners out and about nowadays. You can take a cruise on one of those infernal Carnival cruise ships that would make the Titanic look small. His remarks came at a time when there had never been a ship quite that big before and the harbormasters weren't quite sure what would happen when something that big moved. The Titanic almost had a collision just getting off the wharf and out into the harbor and there were a couple of other incidents described by Mr Rowe.

It wasn't SIZE that doomed the Titanic, it was a combination of very bad luck and a lackadaisical attitude about safety, dammit.

That bad luck excuse reminds me of what Officer Lightoller said at the British Maritime Court of Inquiry. He conveniently blamed the events on an incredible chain of bad luck and odd coincidence--the moonless night with no light to reflect off the berg, the fact that no bergs had ever been that far south in the Atlantic during that time of year, etc.

"Everything was against us", he stated.

Yet Walter Lord and other Titanic historians have said--- "Everything was against them?
It's a wonder she lasted as long as she did"---meaning the incredible human stupidity and carelessness displayed that sank this beautiful ship--and it's an unwritten law of the sea that you can build ships bigger, but not more beautiful, in honor of the doomed ship.

You make your own luck at sea.

I really don't like Lightollier very much. It seemed that it was his little mission on earth to make sure that no men were put into lifeboats while the Titianic was sinking, even when the lifeboats were sent away half full.

Dammit.

I also don't believe his story that the ship sucked him down and he miraculously escaped. Sounds too good to be true...... then, according to him, he "nobly "manned a collapsible all night.
He tried to make himself look like John Paul Jones that night in order to dodge the question--

Why are so many CREW alive and so many women and children passengers dead?

He's a liar and a coward. At least Murdock and Captain Smith had the guts to go out the proper way.....

"The captain stood where the Captain should
for the law of the sea is grim
the owner led when the women fled
And no law bothered him."

It always intrigues me the depth of the history that goes on with the titanic. I mystery and Ora of it. People have a major fascination with finding out what really happen and why. The movie they made was fictional based on a true turn of events.
I watch the documentary called, Raising the titanic. It was a good piece of watch for history buffs.
