First, become colour blind. That's the only way you're going to able to tolerate the garishness of...

...your outfit. Here you need to get used to wearing your underpants over your trousers, of course, but that's minor. What you really, really need is colours that shriek out to the sky and burn retinas at a thousand kilometres. Make sure they don't have an iota of taste. That's vital.

Then you need to get used to wearing clothes so skin-tight they look like they've been sprayed on. What's that? You don't have a body like Herr Gropenfuehrer Arnold Schwarzenegger in his steroid days? Worry not, worry not. You'll have a lot of padding in the lining to simulate muscles where no muscles have ever gone before, ever in the history of human anatomy. And of course let me not forget the cape. What do you need a stupid drag-producing cape for? Well...every superhero must have one, except Spiderman. It's, like, the uniform of the fraternity.Actually, superheroes nowadays just wear ACUs and green berets.

I'm actually watching a show that's on down here: "Who Wants To Be A Superhero?"

Stan Lee is the boss. He decides who stays and who goes. I must say, by the end of the season, I may very well be boarderline retarded.

Actually, superheroes nowadays just wear ACUs and green berets. sorry Drones cant be super heros.
And get a vehicle while you're about it. Specifications: far out, far out, far out. The more bizarre the better. Of course, if you can fly, you won't need a vehicle, but not everyone can. Wonder woman had an invisible jet. Can't remember if she could fly though...

Also, if new members join all these Star Trek pics are going to make people think we're a Trekkie fanclub that happens to read the New York Times.

You see, we are not free, we are screwed, there is no way out of avoiding that your president ('cause probably you voted for 666) misuses the tax money.

So basically, your calling everyone in the Army a drone? Do away with the armed forces right? Thats your plan I imagine.

Actually, superheroes nowadays just wear ACUs and green berets.

sorry Drones cant be super heros.

PS: Lern tu speel.

PPS: Im wearing ACU's at this very moment, please say im a drone.

Do you chose where you go? Who you fight? No. You are trained and commanded. You are a drone.

Ok, so, everyone in the armed forces, by your meaning there, is a drone. That would constitute all armed forces, in any country. Or is it just the armed forces of the United States and its allies, because Im sure thats where this is going. I mean, im sure the armed forces of, say, Madagascar and Barbados must be drones too? You wouldnt be calling the armed forces drones if we werent in a war that you disagree with I bet, would you. You wouldnt have a damn thing to complain about. Sad.

I have more respect for the "drone" patroling the streets of Baghdad than some guy who sits behind his computer and doesnt do jackshit except talk.

That's how armies work, and with good reason. We wouldn't have much of a country left if people in the military did whatever they wanted.

But on the other hand, maybe we're just not as smart as you. I mean, how stupid must we be to volunteer to become drones when we could have been in our cozy homes munching cheeseburgers, our biggest concern being when we were going to get laid next? Boy I wish I was as smart as you.

You see, we are not free, we are screwed, there is no way out of avoiding that your president ('cause probably you voted for 666) misuses the tax money.Perhaps you should stop paying taxes then? Or are you going to just continue to fund the mercenaries in their campaign of death?

And I did NOT vote for "666" (assuming that that means George Bush) either time.

you guys need help getting that sand out of your vaginas?

Lets see...you proclaim yourselves superheros, And I respond that you are merely drones (meaning 'remote controlled')

All armys are remotely controlled. Is that wording better? Is the sand still chaffing?
That's how armies work, and with good reason. We wouldn't have much of a country left if people in the military did whatever they wanted. No shit...

Please show me which super hero is remote controlled? None? Ok thanks. You can wash the sand out now.

I never claimed that I was a superhero. Here's what I said:
"Actually, superheroes nowadays just wear ACUs and green berets."

I wear a black beret, not a green one. Now if you don't know what the green beret means, you clearly don't know enough about the military to make your opinions on it valuable at all.

No shit...

Please show me which super hero is remote controlled? None? Ok thanks. You can wash the sand out now.I hate to break this to you, but superheroes don't really exist (take a moment to digest that if you need).
However, the guys who wear green berets (I'll let you figure out who they are) are about the closest thing to superheros that we have in real life.

Im not the asshole walking around pretending to be a super hero...Neither of us said we were superheros. Try again.

However, I'm not going to waste any more time on it; I'd have a better chance at enlightening a doorknob. Please just go home.

I've spent the better part of my life living in the US military culture, serving in the Armed Forces, and/or working for the US Army. I've been to war.

I've known many fine professionals, many fine individuals, many freethinkers, many independent leaders, and an incredible number of fine, intelligent and thoughtful soldiers.
I would put that number at right around a thousand.

I also knew a handful of careerists, brown-nosers, jackasses and losers.
Truthfully, the thoughtful professionals far outnumbered the jerks, and I would put the number of jerks and losers at right around fifty.

I can even concede that I knew a small number of drones.
Blind, obedient, automatons. Willing to follow orders no matter what the issue or the mission.
I would put that number at right around five or less.

Monkey man, anyone who would categorize all who serve in the military as 'drones' has no idea what they are talking about.
This is the plain truth from someone who has been there, and who still proudly serves, albeit in a support capacity.

You are way off base here.

Phyrex and Jester,

You may not be super heros in the classic mode of someone with amazing powers dressed in a flamboyant costume but to me you and all the men and women who serve in our military are definitely heros.

Jester
04-16-2007, 10:08 PM
Thank you Frogger, though I really don't consider myself to be one (and that's not just a cliche display of modesty); probably because there's always someone who's more of hero than I am.

Heros to me are moms who wake up in the middle of the night with kids, clean up puke, clean house and keep the house up without pay and without being able to put it down on thier resumes. Heros to me are psychologist who help the rejects of society like the mentally ill and homeless. They get in 40,000 dollars in debt to make next to nothing to help people no one else will. Heros are people who stand up and speak even when thier words are not popular.

Warrior,

You bring up a good point. There are many silent, unsung heroes (better Phyrex?). There are the men and women who go about living their lives and doing what they have to do without complaining or whining. There are the kids who go to school and do their best despite all the distractions and fears the schools might hold. There are the fathers and mothers who come home from a full day of work and help their children with their homework or take their kids outside to play. There are the teenagers who tutor less able students, who stand up to the bullies, who say no to the temptations that surround them. Each of us has the capacity to be a hero to someone.

Id consider anyone who does what they need to do, takes care of their business, family, and self, and contributes to society in some positive way to be a worthwhile person.

My father has been in health care for nearly 40 years, (Hes almost 60.) Id consider him to a be a hero. Hes done nothing but take care of other people, and his family his whole life.
