O.k. honestly. Am I the only one who thinks this show and a few others in the same vain is a total waste of airspace on THE HISTORY CHANNEL. On TLC or Discover, or even National Geographic it makes sense.
On the History Channel however it makes as much sense as tits on a man. WTF???
I'm not the biggest fan of the channel but when I'm looking for something to watch, I don't turn to the histroy channel to learn about cranes, bridges, or bricks. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay I'm done ranting, just feeling a little pissed off today at the world.

We hardly watch this channel unless it has Civil War or American Revolution shows.
They really do have too much WWII stuff on, IMO.

I love history channel, but I even began to wonder what was going on when they showed Planet of the Apes the other night.

It seems like all of the different Discovery owned channels are pretty much interchangeable these days. That's the one things that's kind of maddening about cable/satellite channels is that they're all founded with a specific audience in mind, but shortly thereafter they decide they want more market share and they switch over to showing reruns of Seinfeld.

I was pissed when TLC turned into the designer channel a few years back lol.
Went from Discoveryesque to nothing but Home Makeover in just a few months.

The history channel shows too much crap about WWII... I like some of the Modern Marvels episodes though.

thats because WW2 shows rule. It harkens back to a time when men were men and america had a backbone. Back when we were not afraid to carpet bomb a city into submission, when you could eat a sea otter wihout being made to feel guilty damnit!

Yeah I never could've survived on this planet without knowing the over detailed and precise history of toilet paper.

Some of those Modern Marvels shows are interesting and some seem to be simply filler.
The History Channel, along with the other 'niche' channels have changed in recent years to be more or less mirrors of the broadcast channels. I preferred when they were aimed at a specific, hard core group of viewers.

I watched a rerun of 'Band of Brothers' on the History channel not long ago,and I can understand films based on fact.

"Band of Brothers" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_of_Brothers) is a mulit-episode movie initially shown on HBO.

Yeah, TLC really went downhill. I don't bother watching it anymore.
And I agree with Pendragon, Modern Marvels doesn't really belong on the History Channel. It may be the history of something but that doesn't make it history. The Barbarians and The Barbarians II (don't quote me on those titles) belonged there. But theyreally push the definition sometimes.
I still like Discovery though.

20 some odd years of watching that still leaves me in shock...Ermy reminds me of my grandfather.

My grandfather was a 30 year Sergeant Major in the Marines.
Served in WWII, Vietnam, and Korea. Was a POW at Bataan as well.
My father and uncles have told me some stories about their upbringing, let me tell you.
