Sorry, I was posting my angry reply to an idiotic post at a stupid worthless yahoo board and it screwed up so I thought I'd vent here. (I'm quite sure I'll get bashed royally for what I'm going to say, but oh well!!) I am sick of Islam and it's supposed "peacefulness". Is any religion peaceful that preaches hatred and intolerance for other religions and peoples? HELL NO! I'm sick of those freaks bombing innocent people and saying that Jews are the cause for all their problems. I'm sick of them threataning citizens of the U.S. (and allies) who have absolutely NOTHING to do with the politics over there. Islam is a religion of hypocricy and opression. Is any religion peaceful that preaches the oppression of women. Muhommed was a ruthless killer and slave trader. ARGGGG! (Sorry about typos, but I'm pissed!)

Wait, so you're bashing Trav for (allegedly) assuming that all homosexuals are child molesters and now you go assuming that all muslims are terrorists hell-bent on our destruction? Admittedly it's more prevelent among Muslims than other religions, but to get to the point where you think all clerics are out there preaching death and destruction is a bit of a stretch. Frankly, my guess is that there are so many people willing to kill themselves for religion is because there isn't anything else to live for over there. Not much of an economy in a lot of those countries.

Islam doesn't preach intolerance and hatred. In fact, the Quaran is more tolerent to Jews than the Bible, Bible making hardly any notice(although they were nice to the Sumeritans), and the Quaran telling people to be nice to the Jews who shared land with them.

So does the bible, my little friend. So did the stories of old, mythology. It's nothing new. I have an aunt who strictly follows the bible. She wears a bandana over her head, and shows no skin other than hands and face. Housewife, have you forgoten these terms?

He was a killer, but he wasn't ruthless, and nowhere have I heard he was a slave trader. The man was a militant leader, against the cruel governments in the countries he and his people livid in. If I remember right, the Jews killed every single Babylonian in Jerusalem, or so the bible says. Do you forget the Crusades? The Islamic let all of the Jews and Christians live in Jerusalem, and when they had to take it back, they let them all out, peacefully. The Europeans slayed them all, Jews and Muslims.

The religion itself is certainly a peaceful religion. However, just as it is with christianity, there seems to be an element within the religion that corrupts outside perceptions of it.

Anyway, to consider Islam as a monolithic religion and to put all muslims in the same category does not make sense.

There are as much difference between a mystic sufi of Pakistan and a chinese muslim of Sinkiang that between a greek orthodox monk land a redneck from the "Bible belt".

Wow Astro.....you sound like you have respect for everyone but the American. Why does that not surprise me? You should take care, your underlying contempt is showing.

Sorry if my post appeared disrespectful. Is it because of the "redneck" ? I did not think it was so rude. But I could as well have written a bigot from Versailles (the very conservative city near Paris) or an old lady from Brittany (my homeland). Again, I did not mean to offend anyone !

And about having respect to anyone but the american… I respect honest and peaceful people from all countries and religion.
I have no respect for Muslim fundamentalists who use religion as a pretext for using violence and brainwashing people, neither for western politicians who use Islam as a scapegoat to restrain civil liberties.

When the Muslim clerics begin speaking out against the barbaric violence preformed in the name of their religion, the negative attitudes many harbor toward all Muslims may change. Until that happens, they can expect the faithful to remain under suspicion in most of the Western world.

Havok I do agree, most religions are peacefull, but sometimes we have to watch out for the people that practice the religion. In this case these nutcakes seem to abuse there religion and use it for hate crimes.

There are nuts in every religion. In no way are a couple of plane-hijacking shoe-bomb-wearing individuals representative of the whole of Islam.

However, every fundie is the same as another fundie. What's with that one? Fundementalists beleive the exact same thing as the other fundies, you leave the insane group of fundies, and then you see differences within each person in each denomination.

Except they'll kill you for worshipping the wrong god (the fundies that is).
