Went on to Clingman dome which isn't far from there. Most beautiful. The clouds were coming in making pics harder to take. I hiked the trail which is about 1/2 mile straight up to heaven but thought for sure my heart was going to explode. As luck would have it, a cloud was there and nothing but whiteout so no pics from the dome.
Here are some from the peak I managed to get.

Leaving the mountains we stopped at another stream. Jesus signed the bottom of the rock. I thought that was special.

Sounds like you had a good day. Do you fish? Those rivers look awfully inviting, dammit.

I had an awesome day, thanks. No, I didn't fish but there were plenty of folk there who were.

thanks, smw. The pics come no where near showing the beauty there. It's a must see to anyone if they are ever in the area.

I'm ashamed to say I've never been there. Spent some time in the countryside around Atlanta, GA, but never in TN. Heard it's spectacular and your pics certainly back that up.

You didn't actually move there, did you?

Those are great, Imp....I get to enjoy a lot of the same type scenery here in the Ozarks. I've been here 14-1/2 years and it still takes my breath away when I get out among it.

Thanks for sharing.

Imp,
I'm very impressed. You've done excellent work with these. Dont you just love it when the color jumps out at you when you photograph under cloudy conditions?

If you dont mind me asking, what are you using, and what's your background. This isnt amateur composition were talking about.
You can pm if you dont want to go public

I sure did! :D
We live in a luxury townhouse in a gated community since February at the foothills of the Smokeys, it's most beautiful here.
We are checking different areas to decide if we are going to buy land & build or buy a place already built.

mskimi. Feel free to post any pics you have of the Ozarks. I've never been and would love to see them.

Thank you Ride, it was a great day for pics. I used a Canon Digital Elph powershot s230. I seriously need to get a better camera if I am going to photograph more.
My background? First and foremost I'm a stay at home mom now. My son Sammy is handicapped and needs physical and occupational therapy so he is my top priority. I like to get him out and explore places where he is able.

I have done freelance photography. I've worked for a New York State senator, a catwalk model, a brain surgeon and a construction crew. All private work, not profession related.

I've traveled upstate NY and photographed it's beauty and have some pics I can share if you would like.

Before Sammy I worked with a private contractor on a government base bidding multi-million dollar contracts for housing and maintenance for the military and air force.
I've recently flipped a house in NY and made quite a profit and may do so again here when the time is right. I worked on it while the kids where in school, so I'll have to wait til fall when school starts again to get into that.

I love nature and it's beauty and would much prefer to photograph and travel then flip a house. ;)

Thank you shortstuff.

I'll do that sometime. I've gotten into the photography thing and have some great pics of some of the rivers and streams around here. It's a great place to live.....I'm glad you've found such beautiful country to enjoy.

You're good at what you do, and please, keep it up.
I'm curently using a Minolta Maxxum 5D, primarily because everything that works with that also works with my 7000i film camera. Saves me from dragging around a bunch of unnecessary stuff.

My job as an emergency responder affords me access to places and situations that most people never get to see. It also lets me blow off a couple hundred images a week.

Daaaamn but you are good girl. You manage to capture a certain kind of emotion in your pictures...that's what makes it happen! They are not just pretty 'scape pics...they tell a momentary story; of the earth or of the perceiver. They have depth.

O, I'm so jealous.
I want to get a canon rebel xt and assorted lenses. One day, perhaps. You are lucky to get to hideaway places, and even get paid for it! :)

Thank you both for the kind words, and encouragement.

The first one, Ev? It is behind a cider mill, the currents used to be strong enough to generate the mill. Over the years they've switched to power and re-routed the main part of the stream in another direction. The falls are about 30 ft.
