Certain posters have been complaining lately about signature image sizes. To this point, there has been no set policy on images in signatures, it's just kind of do whatever the hell you want. What do you guys think about a signature image size limit?
NOTE: This poll is not binding and is advisory only. Allforums policy will not necessarily change because of the results of this poll. Final decision to change forum rules will be made by the admins. However, your input will be considered.

You should post reference images up so everyone can see.

it depends on the total sig...i just think if a sig takes up an entire screen, it's too much. of course if DF (in a couple of years), Shortstuff, Imp or Musiq wanted to use bikini pics, the bigger the better:thumbs:

600 x 600 is way too big. I like 400 x 400 as a maximum.

I recommend 200 by 200, 400 as a tolerable max.
My sig, is too big. Dharma's sig, is always too big.

i'm thinking if there should be a limit, it should be on the total sig line, not just an image.

I think yours is just fine, but any bigger than that would be a bit much.

Maybe I'm a hypocrite because I like the larger avatars, but I think there should be a limit. I mean, eventually we'll get to the point where every post is it's own web page. The limit can't be too strict -- you can't get rid of Napster's or Trav's for example. Those are too good. But 400 x 400 sounds about right or maybe two paragraphs of text, maximum.

screen dimensions change with resolution?
Of course. The dimensions are resolution. I run my computer with a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels, which means I can display 1920 pixels across and 1200 vertically. A lot of people have resolutions of 1024x768, which means they display 1024 pixels across by 768 vertically. If I changed my resolution to 1024x768, I wouldn't be able to see nearly as much stuff on my screen as I do now; everything would be bigger.

I think a tag line or 200x200 pic should be good enough. Who the frig wants to keep scrolling past a page worth of signatures just to get to the next post. I turned off sigs because it is getting friggin' ridiculous.

I can agree with some people here. 200x200 would be ideal, but 400x400 wouldn't be too ridiculous. 400x400 should be a maximum.

Personally, I'd say 200 tall by 400 wide, if we were going to impose a limit.

That's a good idea actually Lionel. It should definitely be able to be wider than it is tall.

I think 200 as a max height is still a little too high. Seems like it takes forever to scroll a page to see the next post when theyre that big.
But then, I've always been a bit of a minimalist.

Yeah, actually 150 x 400 might be better.

Mike,
If you ever go widescreen for your computer monitor, you won't go back. I've got a 20 inch widescreen Dell and when I use the OTHER computer monitor I can't stand the tiny real estate.
The signature thing. I'd like to leave it up to the moderators to judge rather than have a hard and fast rule. Napster's little sig out and out couldn't be placed on the boards, but it's a very good sig and it needs the space. If people get too extravegant with their signatures, then they can be talked to, dammit.

Easy. It'll be basically illegible because the resolution will suck ass.

1200x900 sigs please

It's really an outstanding idea, the space next to the pic is always wasted anyway. There is only a white field. One could limit the height and let the width be that of the screen, I wouldn't mind. A good example might be.......oh, I don't know, ........maybe someone lying in the garden or high grass with an expression that could be called maybe 'imp'-ish. Wink, wink.
Not to worry, there are other fantasies to be seen too! That sort of STUFF is never in SHORT supply. :woohoo:

Since it was mentioned early, I am running a 20 inch Dell Widescreen at 1680 x 1050. Do you think that is a good setting for this size? I like it, but not all websites look right, a factor I figured that was due to the widescreen.

The images should have a size limit. Some of these images are too freaking big.

I think we each deserve a full page to display our signatures as boldy and loudly as possible. Assholes of the forums unite!
I personally, think one of the smaller sizes would be better for a forum.
I come here for the print not the pictures.

Well we must remember we do have people on dialup here possibly also... The bigger the image, the longer the load time for them.......(We should try to respect that,we were all on dialup @ one point.)

There should not be image size limit because the users will have difficulties in selecting images for the sign.
