Why are so many people posting threads in this forum that are about US domestic issues?

I mean, a visitor from another country could easily assume we think we are the world.

Interesting observation. I've considered the World News area to be a respository for news that the "world" might find of interest.

Guess we are wrong to consider the US part of the World.
Besides, if its not political, where should it be posted?

I've always felt there just weren't enough subcategories here in Debate Central...

Because politics and world news so often collide and because these topics involve so many different and disparate parts of the planet, I think it would be helpful if Politics and World News become one Uber Section (if you will) of Debate Central, including geographical subcategories such as:

The UK
Europe
Asia
Canada
The US/The Bush Administration
Australia/NZ
Iran and the GWOT
Chad, Gambia and Bhutan

Both politics and world news (as they relate to this or that specific country/region) would go in the appropriate geographic subcategory.

Whaddya think?

My prediction for the category with the least posts:

Chad, Gambia and Bhutan :)

Just my $0.02. It was my understanding that Politics was the thread for domestic American politics and World News was basicly everything else. That has seemed to work out so far, IMO.

Yeah I thought the same thing actually, but there really is no where else to really put a domestic news story... I vote for a new section, (Domestic News)

how about just striking "world" from the title, since most ppl don't read it anyways.

But do forum users of non-US forum sites discuss about other countries' affairs all that much on their "World News" section? Or is it really not so different from country to country that people are primarily interested in talking about 1) their national matters and 2) foreign matters that seem like having direct effects on them or that which everybody in the world is talking about?

Not sure Doi,the US is unique in that all things American effect the rest of us,whereas say Irish stuff would just be a curiosity Stateside.

There is no US news section, and news isn't always fit for the politics section.

This website is also dominated by Americans, the minorities are in English speaking countries anyway with a similar culture and can relate well enough.

Besides, the US is all that matters!!!!!!11111one~!!!!!!!!ugh!!!!!!thisistaxin gonmyfinger!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!

Americans are inward looking,by nature.
And all native Irish people are goat-fucking drunkards, by nature. Hey, everyone - generalizing is fun...

Maybe we should devote a thread to it...

We'll put it under a "deversity rules" appellation, and then, everyone can be happy. :)
