help - PLEASE. i have MSN - the messenger thing - and i use it for personal email. So i was going about my daily business, logging on mid afternoon - tra la la la la - when i this message pops up for the first time ever - "We could not sign you into MSN Messenger. It appears you are behind a firewall that does not allow a direct connection to the Internet. We tried to sign you in through an HTTP proxy, but your Internet Explorer proxy settings are either missing or incorrect. To adjust your IE proxy settings, click the IE Tools menu, click Internet Options, click Connection tab, and then click LAN settings."
Now - i was already on the Internet - surfing away - so not only do i not know what a HTTP proxy etc means - but how is it possible that i can't get a 'direct connection to the internet' - if i'm already connected?! I don't have any new software on my pc, - nothing new, nothing dodgey - all the same for the past few months - so why - today - does this have to happen. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED - PLEASE. i need to acces the email account with MSN.
i gain acces to the Internet through AOL - and have no problems there either - Explorers working fine aswell. so whats going on?? - how do i disable this supposed FIREWALL - that i didn't even know i had?! and all the LAN settings stuff i don't understand either - what am i supposed to do once i get into the settings - ? i could go on - but instead i'd prefer some help.
thankyou.
