An associate of mine working in the retail world has told me of some strange illness cropping up in the store she works in. There are flu like symptoms that last for weeks but the doctors can't seem to find what's causing it. More than one company medical clinic has offered that it might be an airborne virus carried in the "air pillows" found in so many new products rather than styrofoam popcorn. These all come from the far east and are filled with air right there. Could air from over there be making people sick here? So far nothing has been able to help those sick with this flu. While the company hasn't said anything, she knows about something much the same happening in nearby stores. Has anyone heard anything like this in their cities?

There's no way those air pillows are filled with air in Asia and then shipped over here for use. That would cost way too much just because of the large volume they would occupy.

The air cushion pillows are filled in China etc. and used to cushion those wonderful products on their way to the U.S. Of course any viruses would be sealed inside the sealed plastic pillow. Perhaps Banquo's friend has nothing better to do at work than opening up products and popping the air pillows.

I think this Asian peril is about the funniest thing I have read all week. Is this the newest internet legend making the e-mail rounds?

Oh my gosh.I thought this was a hoax too but then three people in my office got sick, after opeing the packing boxes that contained our uniform items and smocks. We all got sent home early friday. Please do not make fun of this issue if you dont know what you are talkingabout, and haven't had friends exposed.
Will let you know tomorrwo how everyone is

Today where my friend works she said there were 4 more people out sick with the same flu thing and the floor managers were telling the workers not to puncture any of the bags and to be especially careful when handling them.

Rather interesting. I've been searching for information regarding anything close to this and links I've located at medical sites appear to point to a variation of SARS.
