Khalid El-Masri is a Lebanese-born citizen of Germany who filed against the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States of America. Al-Masri protested his illegal detention and inhuman treatment in an Afghan jail. He was mistakenly detained in Macedonia two and a half years ago, only to be transported for interrogation and torture to Afghan CIA secret prison. Five months later when the Americans realized they had the wrong man, Mr Masri was released at night on a desolate road in Albania, without any apology, or funds to return home.
Early this year Munich Prosecutor Christian Schmidt-Sommerfeld announced that warrants for 13 people were issued for suspected involvement in Mr El-Masri's rendition. However this may back-fire certain German high-ranking officials in case German authorities decide to go the whole hog. The thing is that German got mixed up in the gamble of the CIA for secret flying prisons. If only the Germans try to force the CIA, Washington will usher without reservation the list of German functionaries who assisted the CIA.
That is disgusting and actually it’s violation of some code of Honor by CIA. That doesn’t add to credibility of USA as an ally in Europe. Am I right?
