THE ECONOMIC BOOM ROLLS ON

According to a Federal Reserve report yesterday, the net worth of U.S. households has skyrocketed. This confirms what many of us have been saying for quite some time: we are currently in an unprecedented economic boom. But don't tell that to the Democrats or the media...they're doing their best to cover it up. And they have good reason. If Americans really realized just how good they had it under a Republican president, they might not vote for Hillary Clinton. And the media won't have that.

But the statistics are telling. Personal wealth among American households spiked 2.5 percent in the last quarter. Added onto the entire year, that's a 7.4% net worth increase among families. This is huge. If the economy was as bad as the press wants everyone to believe, then how come people are getting richer by the day? All of this is happening despite a slowdown in the housing market.

It used to be said that people voted with their wallet. If the economy was good, the incumbent party and president were safe. Yet even the Republicans screwed that up in the last election. For some reason, they were drawn into arguments about Iraq and were unable to effectively trumpet their economic record.

Thanks to the Bush tax cuts, the economy is on fire. Happy days are here again. Just don't tell the Democrats.

Hm, theres nothing like a war to kick start an economy.
I always get the impression that the well educated with careers do well, whereas the not so well educated in the less glamorous posts just work harder for less.

Attributing economic gains and losses to any one president always seems like a dubious practice to me.

I agree with Leper. I wouldnt give credit to Clinton for the success of the 1990'2, i wouldnt blame bush for the slow down when he first started, and I wont say he led us to recovery. Although, tax cuts cant hurt the economy, only the government. Even then, the government doesnt have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem.

Personal wealth among American households spiked 2.5 percent in the last quarter. What Boortz doesn't say is the growth is only in the top 5% percent of wage-earners. In NYC, there is now a new record for numbers of families living in shelters. Someone should really tell those people how well they are doing.

Government spending will kick start an economy. It's called deficit spending: borrowing money and spending it to kick start the economy. However, there are much more effective things to spend the money on than war. After you build a tank, or a missle, what positive effect does that have on the economy? None. If you instead spent that money on infrastructure, or on helping small businesses start up, it would do much more for our economy.

Selling the tank or missile abroad boosts your export book, increasing employment in the armaments sector, thus boosting the econoomy. I tried unsuccessfully to find figures for house building in the US in the last year, thats usually considered a good bench mark as to how the economy is doing.

the housing market here is cooling off, In fact, it coincides precisely with when the Dems took power. Coincidence? I think not! Clerly the Democrat party is responsible for the failure of the economy. It says so at www.deomcratssuckgoatballs.com.

Maybe with the economy going so well, the national debt can be addressed.
How much has been wasted on Iraq so far, a trillion bucks, yea really booming.

considering we have spent a trillion and no one has had to give up a single luxury or alter their way of life one bit I would say it was booming.

I agree, it will increase employment, but that product (the missle) will not contribute to improving the economy. You could employ people to sit on their asses with the same economic result.

FACT — Poverty rates have increased under Bush:

The poverty rate has risen each year since 2001, with 12.7 percent of the population now living in poverty. African-American poverty has risen from 22.7 percent in 2001 to 24.7 percent in 2004, and child poverty has gone from 16.3 percent in 2001 to 17.8 percent (1.3 million children under the age of 18). Yeah.

A "rising tide lifts all boats". Right?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

FACT — BUSH TAX CUTS TARGETED AT HIGH-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS: The tax bills enacted since 2001 “have helped high-income households far more than other households,” according to the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities. Households with incomes exceeding $1 million have received average tax cuts of $103,000, “an increase of 5.4 percent in their after-tax income.” But in 2005, the bottom fifth of households “will receive an average combined tax cut of $18 from these bills, raising their after-tax income by 0.3 percent.” [Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, 10/17/05]

I will agree the economy is good, but that last line always gets me. I keep hearing "thanks to the Bush tax cuts"...get over yourself!!! I've said it before, but everytime someone says the tax cuts are THE reason for the good economy, I have to repeat that while the tax cuts may have helped, the main reason we all had more money to spend during the last five years was the extremely low interest rates. Just don't tell the Republicans.

Much as I hate the military industrial complex, it's not really the same thing. Building a missile is huge and complex, a lot of science is involved, materials research, safety considerations, all of which can be used in other industries. A strong and robust military economy can produce specialists that are well suited for other industrial applications as well.
