Incest, is it a dirty word, or a sign of the times.

Interesting, Paul. Does the Jerry Springer Show air in Germany?
Seriously, I watched a documentary about this subject the other day and was surprised to hear researchers say there's really nothing wrong with COUSINS marrying COUSINS (against the law in the U.S.), but they said the brother/sister or parent/child marriage could result in their children having major abnormalities. (parent/child marriage... that's a shocking thought, eh?) I don't have a problem with the couple in the article being together... but sounds like they probably shouldn't have had children. Family gatherings must be really confusing:
"Kids, your daddy/uncle is here to take you to see your mommy/aunt."

OK I watched the video and read the article.
My opinion is that if they had met first and not known they were siblings and got together then I would not have so much of an issue.
They came together and fell in love after a great tragedy their mother passing, But they still knew they were siblings.
Are they really in love or is more comfort and companionship. I agree with the issue if him having a vasectomy though. It is not fair to subject the children to the possibilities of birth problems. Life is going to be hard enough for them when people and children learn of their history and past.
To me I am not sure what the right solution is and can not even fathim a response only how I feel.
I feel that because they knew they were siblings that this should have never happened or been allowed to happen. They knew better. I love my brother dearly but would never sleep with or make love with him. You need to have self control and respect.

That question could probably be answered with the second option for the vast majority of marriages here in the US. I'm not judging them, there's far more serious evils to be addressed than these two.

An unfortunate situation.

Hey, there are some people out there that find their brothers and sisters attractive.........and if that's the case, let the weirdos be.

They made a good point... Why are disabled people and people with inheritable diseases allowed to marry and have children? How about older mothers? Those people are also likely to have kids with disabilities, but I don't see why it's legal for them to have kids but not brothers and sisters?
That said, I think that since he had a vasectomy they should leave them alone. The only logical reason behind anti-incest legislation is the possibility of birth defects, and since they're not going to have any more kids I don't see why it matters anymore. And they should be able to keep their kids.

The Hapsburg royal family always inbred. The last of their kin was said to be so deformed from the centuries of inbreeding that when he died his organs were not in the proper places somewhat.
