Not surprising that the Lindbergh kidnapping comes in at number one. For sheer viciousness and spectacular press coverage, it's hard to beat that one...others include the Black Dahlia, John Wayne Gacy, Dahmer, the Unabomber, the Zodiac, the Great Train Robbery, and the Son of Sam.

Some that should have made the list but didn't--the Boston Strangler, Ed Gein, Charlie Starkweather.

Breaks your heart to read about the lindberg baby, even jonbenet.

Of all the weird shit in this world, why are kids so routinely exploited and abused.

Pretty interesting list though.

American crimes listed only.

TIME seems to have forgotten the rest of the world. I'd be willing to bet other countries have crimes just as complex and interesting.
