I heard an interview with him, and he said that in country commanders could only approve a Distinguished Service Medal, which he recieved. His unit lacked sufficient clerks to prepare and forward the paperwork for a higher medal.

A true hero in every sense of the word.

The 229th Assault Helicopter Battalion (Flying Tigers) has a commendable history of outstanding performance in battle. I am proud to list myself with others who were assigned to that unit in Vietnam.
