Receintly I held a conversation with a collegue of mines about the American Educational system in comparison to the rest of the world. He then informed me about the Japanese schooling system and how its far more superior to those in the US. According to him:

American students go to school on and avg of eight hours a day
The Japanese go for 12

We Go to school for Five days a week
The Japanese go for Six

Our High School Students get three months out for Summer Vacation
The Japanese only have two weeks

By the time the avg Japanese student graduates from high school, they have an I.Q equivalent to the avg American wth an Associates Degree.

The avg American worker works 40 hrs/week
The avg Japanese worker works 60 hrs/wk

This sounds a little far fetched to me. Can anyone here confirm this?

Untrue.

After school students may attend cram schools designed for a heavy amount of tutoring, but other than that, school cannot and would not last half a day.

We Go to school for Five days a week
The Japanese go for Six
I've heard this, but it is likely just a elongated cram school session.
By the time the avg Japanese student graduates from high school, they have an I.Q equivalent to the avg American wth an Associates Degree.
IQ is not determined by education levels.
The avg American worker works 40 hrs/week
The avg Japanese worker works 60 hrs/wk
I'm not sure I've met someone who works only 40 hours a week in America.

I'll be sure to look into these claims when I get more time.

I don't think I've heard...
12 hours? Japanese?
Maybe it's Korean or Chinese...
Some people of Japanese studies about 12 hour, but most of people doesn't. At least, I never.:lolhit:

That isn't correct. Japanese also go for Five.
A decade ago, Japanese went for Six.

Our High School Students get three months out for Summer Vacation
The Japanese only have two weeks

Two weeks? Japanese have summer vacation about 1 month.
Each two weeks out for winter and spring also. The total is about two months.

By the time the avg Japanese graduates from high school, they have an I.Q equivalent to the avg American wth an Associates Degree.

Maybe Americans' IQ include poverty group. Starvation by poverty reins in growing the brain. Then IQ would be weakning.
Japan has little poverty. And, Japanese elementary school gives students lanch in noon. Japanese children don't bring lanch to school. Then, Their nourishment aren't bad.

Japanese academic ability is decreasing in decades. It's a social issue in Japan. But teaching skill is decreasing also.
Japan lost a lot of things in decades.

In Ireland kids go to school Mon-Fri, usually 9am-3pm.
School is compulsary until the age of 16.
Summer break is 2 months from end of June to start of September,
plus 2 weeks at Christmass
1 week off in February
1 week off at Easter
3 days off at St Patricks Day.
School kids in Northern Ireland have topped the grades for the UK every year since records began,
School kids in the Republic are educated to one of the highest standards in Europe,
which business finds vey attractive, thus zero unemployment there.
