Should be interesting--scandals and brouhaha before the racing even starts.
Jeffy gets sent back to the field for Daytona tomorrow.

NASCAR is cracking down on the cheaters.

Can't wait for Daytona tomorrow--let the racing begin!

I prefer more of a "run what you brung" attitude toward auto racing. I feel that NASCAR is overdoing the rule thing.

This american NASCAR you speak of is inferior in every way to International Rally Racing.

LoL, how come you find it interesting to watch a few drive around in a circle 500 times? I just don't see the fun in that.

NASCAR is a lot tougher than it looks. That said, I've never watched an entire race. I prefer open wheel racing. Rally is great, it just doesn't get enough coverage here in the U.S.

I prefer rally racing as well, and stuff like F1 and the Le Mans series. But NASCAR deserves credit as well as any other sport. There are not many people who could do what they do.

All right, i'll confess....

I like the accidents, trading paint, 3 and 4 wide racing in the turns, the feuds and paybacks, hitting the wall. Yes, I'm BIG enough to admit it.

It's also kinda relaxing, after a long stressful week, to watch the pretty cars go round and round in circles. It's therapeutic.

It also doesn't hurt that there's some pretty guys like Tony and Kasey K. Of course, not all are purty--like Kyle Busch. He has a face only a mother could love.

Did you see the end of the race??
Now this is why I watch this stuff---did you see Clint Boyer cross the finish line upside down, on fire? when he got out,
looked like he had his helmet ready to throw at someone!
They really shoulda thrown a yellow before that--Mark M would have won...poor guy, he's never won there. Glad Harvik won tho, and am looking forward to the future tete a tete between Tony and Kurt B.

I know I set an all time record for bad with points total today tho- only had one driver in the top 10--Burton---gonna go add up our scores now--i don't think I want to know.

I will own that proudly.

I also like watching them go round the track and trying to avoid a crash or seeing the paint jobs on the cars and who can forget some of the hottest drivers out there.
Yes and there are a few hotties, lol
Keeps it interesting to the end especially if your driver makes it to the end.

It was an exciting finish, although I felt disappointed for Kenseth, as he is from around here. It really hurts to wreck right at the end when you are in third place, and of course it set off the chain of events that plagued the final lap.

He's a good driver, but just doesn't have the car. And he's done me in the past 2 races--I gave him a chance, but....as for that tete-a-tete with his teammate in Mexico, that's racing. I still admire his will to win. And he's caught on to NASCAR real fast--if they ain't goin fast enough, spin 'em out!

Replaced him with Kurt B on my team for the Las Vegas race tomorrow--he does well there, even tho he's ugly.

Tony Stewart Slams NASCAR

Tony has accused the NASCAR officials of throwing "phantom" cautions near the end of races to tighten up the field and thus making the racing more exciting.

This coming from a guy who threatened retirement a few weeks ago.

That li'l scamp is surely a hothead. No wonder his girlfriend dumped him.

He needs a girl to tell him to sit down and shut up.

Still Tone has a legitimate point. We've often wondered about these cautions ourselves--they're namely for debris--miniscule pieces of rubber or whatnot on the track. Sometimes no debris is evident.

NASCAR says it has the safety of the drivers first and foremost on their agenda--as it should be.

Tony thrives on controversy. It should be noted that he lost a race not long ago with a dominant car by one of these cautions. He is also winless this season.

Race at Talladega Sunday. I predict a Tony win. Yeehah!!!!

Hendrick is certainly dominant this year, and the Chevys in general, but Penske has finally gotten his Dodges going pretty well.

Wonder what's wrong with Roush?

He only seems to have 2 decent cars anymore--Jamie and Matt's. Maybe since he allied himself with the Red Sox, that brought him bad luck. Just 2 years ago he had all 5 cars in the Chase.

Tony provided loads of laughs yesterday by standing in the middle of the racetrack and flipping off Gilliland. That li'l scamp sure makes things interesting....wonder how much his fine will be for THAT?????

Hey nascar to some is not even a sport. I love nascar and enjoy the races.
Crashes are a part but love to watch to maneuvering of the vehicles. To be able to drive that fast and lap another car. Very exhilarating concept.

On Saturday, Jeff Gordon won the Bud Pole for the Aaron’s 499 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race, the first time in his career that he had captured the pole position at Talladega Superspeedway. Gordon’s fast-lap speed of 192.069 mph actually was matched by David Gilliland, but Gordon was awarded the Bud Pole based on his first-place standing in the points.

Earnhardt jr. needs to get his head back in the game if he ever wants to stand a chance this year. He wants to move up the point standings.

The rednecks are going to ruin it for the decent individuals who prefer to bring their own beer (cans) to the race. If this stupidity keeps up, it's only a matter of time before all tracks prohibit people from carrying in their own beer. I for one don't like having to pay six dollars for an 8 oz. plastic cup of piss beer that the tracks offer.

Juan Pablo is good at ANY circuit.

Here's more:

The highlights of his career include an International F3000 title, a world title in the CART Championship Series, and victories in some of the most prestigious races in the world. He is the only driver to have ever won the premier North American open-wheel CART title, the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Daytona, all at first attempt. Montoya remains one of the only two drivers to have ever won the CART title in his rookie year, the other driver being Nigel Mansell, and has equalled Graham Hill's feat of being a Monaco Grand Prix and Indianapolis 500 race winner. Montoya has also become a crossover race winner by taking victories in Formula One cars, Champcars, IndyCars, Grand-Am Prototype cars and stock cars.

You should have seen him at Infineon Sunday--the road-race course.
My god, he drove about a perfect race at this challenging track--just one minor slip when he tried to pass Jamie Mac.
Most NASCAR guys aren't real good road racers....JP showed them how it's done.
I like the guy--he's dashing and a throwback to Graham Hill, IMO.

Gordon and Johnson have each been penalized 100 driver championship points. Their respective crew chiefs -- Steve Letarte and Chad Knaus -- have each been fined $100,000, suspended for the next six Nextel Cup Series events until Aug. 15 and placed on probation until Dec. 31, 2007.

In addition, Rick Hendrick, owner of the No. 24, has been penalized 100 car owner championship points as has Gordon, who is the owner of the No. 48.

Clint Bowyer gets his very first Nextel Cup win today, and if you're going to win, now's the time to do it. Other than that, fairly dull race to start off the Chase--not enough wrecks.

GREAT race at Dover today--fights, wrecks galore.... finally some racing for this Chase! The guys aren't playing nice anymore, hehe.

Jeffy number one in points, folllowed closely by Tony and then Carl Edwards, who won today. Denny might be too far out to amount to anything.

I saw the ending of the race. Dover is typically a good race.

I saw that what a difference a year makes...Some ass kicking for some of the drivers is needed...oh well they can rebuild next year. lol

It sure won't be the same without him in the Budweiser.

Tony helped "fellow" Hoosier Jeffy to the win Sunday at Talledega.
Better than helping Jimmie J tho, in Tony's mind. If he had not attempted to block Jimmie in the last lap, Tony prob would have won.
I think Tony deliberately took himself out of the race just so in order to not help Jimmie, who he hates, lol.

If you're at a race & meet someone from D.C., be sure to sneeze on them!

NASCAR Cooties? (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,301521,00.html)

WASHINGTON — Going to NASCAR? Are your inoculation records up to date? Have you had all your shots?
Most fans would probably think that a homeland security emergency at a NASCAR race would take the form of a terror attack. But after hearing all the noise in Washington the last couple of days, they'd be wrong.
The argument began when congressional aides were advised to get real-life immunizations against several communicable diseases — including hepatitis, diphtheria, tetanus and influenza — before traveling to look at preparations being made by local first responders for hypothetical scenarios at the tracks in Talladega, Ala., and Concord, N.C.

Jimmie J, Dudman, wins so much he doesn't even smile in Victory Lane.
God, he's dull like the rest of Hendrick Motorsports. I was hoping Tony would add to the mixup a bit. He hates Jimmie even more than I do.

C'mon Tony, liven things up a bit for us.

What a wild ending at Atlanta today!

Poor Denny--it was his bad luck that made him run out of gas with just a few laps to go and splutter and die on the restart, causing a massive accident.
