Al Gore is planning a huge 24 hour Rock Concert on all seven continents to highlight the dangers of Global Warming. It is going to be called "Live Earth".
The list of artists already signed up for the concert is pretty impressive:

Ticket sales information won't be announced until March.

It's nice to see that Gore, even in his advanced age, and his years in politics, still has an activist bent.

Crappy artists on stage with Big Al Warming.
Hilarity will ensue.
Especially at their concert in Antarctica (I read it in an article about this.).

I can tell you right now.. the only people who i would give half a shit on that list on what they thought would be Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi, Korn, and Melissa Ethridge.. because they seem to be actual musicians and not "music is cool so i'll be a musician" idiots...
Most of those people are just puppets for more publicity.. and just trying to get on a big tour so they can be seen as "main stream"

Korn, Bon Jovi, and the Foo Fighters are garbage bands that exist to make money. Something tells me you don't know some of the artists on that list, such as Ray LaMontagne. I mean, indie folk music is so mainstream and exists to make money and be cool, right Decka?

The point of the tour seems to be to raise awareness. They want to reach out to those who don't care or do not know through music.

Thanks for the laugh! But as a kid, you're too young to know good music, competently performed, so your belief that "everyone" (except people over 48, apparently) loves RHCP is understandable.
But regardless of our respective ages, the guy still can't sing on key.

The human voice is too complex for every vocalist to just sing.
Besides, chanting was the most primal and used form of singing back in the days of prehistoric man.

A vocalist is someone who provides vocals. Vocals do not always mean singing.
Now, I've got to go turn some water into wine for my party tonight. FT and the Chili Peppers are coming over.

I'm afraid a vocalist is a singer. There is no other recognized definition of the word in any dictionary or thesaurus of the English language.
Just as I've always suspected, Jesus don't know squat! HA! :)
The human voice is too complex for every vocalist to just sing.
I'm still curious what you mean by this. Could you give us a bit more insight into the complexities of the human voice and why those complexities prevent every vocalist from "just" singing?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singer
"A singer is a musician who uses his or her voice to produce music. Usually, singing refers to vocal melody only, though vocalist is a similar term which also encompasses non-melodic sounds and effectively includes anyone using their voice as part of a musical composition, including spoken word, death grunt, Hardcore screaming, and rapping."

First of all, you've given us the Wikipedia definition for singer (which, surprise! is what a vocalist is). When you attempt to look up the word vocalist, Wiki sends you to singer.
Finally, Wikipedia (while it does often contain good information) is not written by lexicographers, and is not considered a definitive dictionary or thesauraus of the English language.
Try again.
Also, how about this?

Ok, one last try....
The quote above comes from Wiki's entry for SINGER. We're discussing your goofy interpretation of the word VOCALIST.
Wikipedia is neither a dictionary nor a thesaurus of the English language and is not written by lexicographers.

It has a dictionary, and a thesaurus, and lexicographers may frequently post. So you're talking out of your $%@. :D
But Marz, I really could care less about what you bring up as a denotation for the term "vocalist." The term itself lends it to mean "one who provides vocals" from literal translation, just because that often means a singer doesn't mean it cannot be applied to anything else. All my life I've heard to from both people, the internet, and other media use the term "vocalist" on people who provide vocals; vocals include the various array of singing styles, screaming, rapping, talking, whispering, roaring, growling, screaming, yelling, screeching, and so on. Language is used in the connotative sense, especially on an informal message board. So I won't answer your questions, because you're just being a pissant, like myself on these boards. When FT does it, or Napster does it, they do it with an endearing pizzazz that makes me enjoy reading their responses. When you do it, you merely inspire the temptation to rip out your reproductive organs and strangle you with your fallopian tubes.
Please stop.

If you'll recall, not long after my return to this board, I defended you. I now see the errors of my ways and understand why so few of these posters have anything positive to say about you. You mutter something stupid, get called on it, insist you're right anyway and/or refuse to explain your comments, and then get nasty. I bet you're pouting now, too.

As for the rest, read it again. I didn't say "no one has anything positive to say about you" (although I'd be surprised if there were more than two or three who think you're a fine, thoughtful, intelligent young man). There are probably hundreds of posts where others criticize your childishness and insults (more than a few in the thread linked to, above). To post them all would be overkill.
