I heard some good things about this edition of Alexander, was wondering if anyone else was going to give this movie a second look (or first)? I thought it was great when I saw it in theaters, I want to see what new content they added, I'd love to hear any interviews with colin ferrel about his role, I think it was one of his best roles, easily. Here is some more info on the release.

I heard really bad things about this movie... Dunno. I watched part of it, one of the battle scenes, and I was not impressed. It's a shame really, that was one of the best historical stories (behind the Battle of Thermopolae and the Mongol campaigns of course)

The theatrical release was ok...but this new cut is like 3 and a half hours and looks to have quite a bit of added content. So I'm definitely going to give it a chance, the battles look good and hopefully like a few other movies, the added footage will make the movie better :)
Plus, there's a free 300 ticket included with the DVD :P

Alexander... sucked, im sorry. Phone Booth was better for Colin Farrel than Alexander was.

Phone Booth is quite a different movie, I dunno... I agree that it's a pretty good movie as well though.
I thought Alexander played out really well, Ferrel's performance was believable and the cinematography was also another great aspect of the movie. The battle scenes are what I was mostly interested in and I was very satisfied with the enormous scale of the battles.
The thing about this edition is, is that Oliver Stone has completely revamped the movie, He has changed the structure of the movie and various other aspects, as well as adding new content, so it's not just a new release with some deleted scenes, here's some more info about it. Definitely watch the interview with oliver stone, he goes into more depth about what he has done. myspace page (www.myspace.com/alexanderrevisited) for the movie.

I thought the original release was quite good (def a historian's type of movie) but I really enjoy the new cut quite a bit more than the last. The battle sequences are more entertaining in this version and they've really added onto the bits that came across as slightly choppy before. BTW has anyone else taken this survey related the the movie? addfilmsurveys.com if you type in '300' as the code then you can take a survery related to alexander. I'm usually not into online surveys but this is legitimate I think since my friends have gotten free stuff from them in the past.
