For anyone interested, USA vs Mexico is starting on ESPN2 at 9:30est.

I'm predicting 1-1 tie.

WTF is a "friendly"?

Isn't it more like an "exhibition"?

I'd like to have a "friendly" with Amy Smart or Candice Michelle... LOL

Whether it is called "friendly (Amistoso)" or "exhibition". It is a game (match) of practice, for the "sport". They will not be playing to "eliminate" one of them from any bigger competition, like going to the "Football World Cup" or any "Regional Football Cup". Usually in games like this one, whatever money people pay for their tickets and other income goes to charity.

The "amistosos" have been played since "forever"...

OH! soccer!...that explains why it's on ESPN2. they must have run out of beach volley tournaments.

friendly my ass

Seriously, Mexican players didn't even shake hands after the game; very classy. I won't even get started on their keeper.

Oh well, I'd probably be pissed if I haven't scored a goal on U.S. soil in 7 years as well.

FOOTBALL, it is FOOTBALL... Not some weird name invented by some Yank!
Well, whatever name you have for the best sport ever to exist in the world since you already have the same name for that boring, brute, unskilled, untalented game of yours. The real FOOTBALL is played and probably loved by the new generations in this place, it won't be long before it surpasses the above mentioned boring sport of yours in your own land. Your sport doesn't even make it to the last page of any newspaper in any other part of the world, but of course you don't care, since you will always be inside your US shell!

Wow.. That's saying something, from what I've heard about our soccer team.

We're not THAT bad; we were vastly overrated going into the 2006 world cup. (FIFA had USA ranked 4th...to put that in perspective I don't even think Italy was in the top 10) We were also in the hardest group with Italy, Czech Republic, and Ghana. With that said, we played very poorly and definitely didn't deserve to advance.

Right now, we're probably just outside the top 10. We won't be winning a world cup anytime soon, but we certainly can compete with anyone in the world. I'm optimistic. :D

I lived in Costa Rica at the time of the World Cup... I remember going to the store at 9 am, buying a big bottle of liquor, and then going over to a restaurant and getting really drunk and watching us lose to Germany in the first game. Hahaha.

it's not my fault you're culturally retarded:rolleyes:

it probably a good thing you hadn't, you just would have gotten hurt on the field, then gotten your ass beat by your team in the locker room for being such a whiny little bitch.

The little whiny bitches are you and all those queers who play that absolute piece of crap game, you need helmets and a lot of padding just so you pussies don't get hurt, take a look at RUGBY, that is a guys game.

And BTW, do you have a culture?... Certainly if you do, which I doubt it, it must be the retarded one, a made up one, "a plastic culture".

of course they're going to wear as much armor as they can, no one is allowed to give up the ball to avoid a possibly life ending injury. it's the difference between being bumped from behind while driving, and a head-on collision.

if our culture is so "plastic" why is it so widely imitated, and why are you here?

So gay people are whiny bitches that play football? You're such a compassionate liberal in your speech and diction.

Only an idiot would play a contact sport without pads.
And BTW, do you have a culture?
Where are you from? Ecuador?

Oh yes, Ecuador has such a rich and vibrant culture compared to the heterogeneous 300 million people here.
