5 Feb. - Reuters correspondent Dan Sloan discovers it's just another day in Japan
Reuters Tokyo correspondent Dan Sloan fruitlessly scours the streets of the Japanese capital for fans of the U.S. Super Bowl.
With aching feet and in urgent need of refreshment, Dan's quest takes him to the Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan, where surely expatriate excitement would be bubbling over?

Guess what? It was also a normal day in Russia, China, Turkmenistan, Bolivia, Turkey, Zaire, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Chad, Lybia, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Yemen, Qatar, Hungary, Austria, Indonesia, Laos, Tunisia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Latvia, Spain, Portugal, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Ukraine, and all those other countries I forgot to mention.
Who cares if it wasn't popular in some other country. It's one of the greatest events in the states and that's all I care about.

It would be a big news story if it DID excite Japan.
They have their own sports, like Sumo Wrestling.
Still tho, the game was broadcast to 150 plus countries and in dozens of different languages.
It's a big event, no doubt, but you have to be a fan to appreciate it for what it really is-- a football game.

Yes, it probably was broadcasted to 150 + countries, but did a large number of people view it or only by those from US living abroad? I think it was only in the English language. I mean, it would be a "commercials" failure in those countries. Now, if you mean that all these satellite & cable channels available for anyone subscribed (ESPN and other sport channels are available whether you want them or not), yes it was, but "by default...", whether anyone care to watch it or not.
