View Full Version : Biden's Unfortunate Comments

Biden said some things about Barak Obama that some people are generalizing to interpret as racist comments.
(“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,”)
Senator Biden is not a racist, but this may hurt him.
But there's a bigger story.
In this interview, he ripped every other Democrat apart. I was thinking that if he ever won the nomination, who could he possibly choose as his running mate.
If you read this statement carefully, there is a veiled overture to a certain East Coast Liberal:
"John Edwards wants you and all the Democrats to think, ‘I want us out of there,’ but when you come back and you say, ‘O.K., John what about the chaos that will ensue? Do we have any interest, John, left in the region?’ Well, John will have to answer yes or no. If he says yes, what are they? What are those interests, John? How do you protect those interests, John, if you are completely withdrawn? Are you withdrawn from the region, John? Are you withdrawn from Iraq, John? In what period? So all this stuff is like so much Fluffernutter out there. So for me, what I think you have to do is have a strategic notion. And they may have it—they are just smart enough not to enunciate it.”

I thought this was a really smart move by Biden. With Hillary and Obama out there, would we even be talking about him?
However, his use of "clean" when describing Obama was a rather poor choice of words.

If that gets Biden "into trouble," then Americans have gotten way too sensitive about race matters.
I would probably vote for Obama if someone other than McCain gets the Republican nomination, although McCain is my favorite. Still, Obama strikes me as intelligent and moderate, at least about most things (the caving in to the unions on the Wallmart matter was a little upsetting).

Politicians who can't keep their feet out of their mouths have short careers, and that doesn't speak well of Americans. Everyone puts both feet in there sometimes, and we should be more generous.

It's just a process of weeding out the ones who are either unfit to rule or are just ignorant of what's going to offend someone and what isn't. (Yeah, we blew it the last two times.......).

Why don't we just cut to the chase and say if you don't vote for Obama you are a racist.

And if you don't vote for Hillary you're a misogynist.
What a situation to be placed in. If you vote for the woman you're a racist and if you vote for the man you're a misogynist. If you vote for a Republican you're a woman hating racist..

And if you vote for a Democrat, you're just plain stupid.... ;)
All joking aside, I hate BOTH choices with a passion.

Heh, that quote won't hurt Obama, but it sure is derogatory towards blacks. 'No other mainstream African-American has ever been articulate, bright, clean and nice-looking'
