It's always good to create a disincentive to report rape. I mean if she was wanted for murder, that's one thing, but this could have waited. And regardless, the investigation should have continued.

On the upside, it creates some incentive to pay off fines associated with grand theft and burglery.

They can always deduct the restitution from the settlement she will receive when the lawsuit is settled.
