I have encountered an error messge while trying to remove a flash disk from my computer. The error says, Can't stop USB Mass Storage Device now. Try stopping it again alter. (Or something to that effect, at least). I did try several times but to no avail. I just removed the flash disk anyway but was wondering what to do to avoid same error message next time. This happened the last two times I used the same disk on the same port on the same computer. Any ideas?

Make sure any program using the flash drive is closed. This includes a file listing of the flash drive, or anything like that.

Thanks. I did close everything down, including all applications I was running simultaneously. Didn't work but thankfully I didn't lose any data. I checked the status of the device on the device manager and all seems ot be working well. hmmm.... I don't know. Maybe it shouldn't bother me much.

Try move the flash drive to a different port when next using it , also try to run a scan disc on it to see what is happening if the error comes up again.

Borg is probably smarter about this than I am, but, didn't Microsoft come out with an update a while back that was supposed to have fixed this?

Did you use the little "Remove device safely" thing that comes up in the taskbar when you have storage devices plugged into your USB's? But yeah, on my old compy, I got that error message, I just said whatever, and pulled it out anyways, never lost any data.
