Ugh. I feel horrible now... It's just because we live so far out in the damn country that we have to drive everywhere. No buses or subways out here. And the packaged, processed food. Well unless I lived on vegetables and fruits and baked my own bread I don't think I could reduce that one... Plus, our house has over 2,000 sq. feet, but it's not very big. It's a townhouse. So I don't know why that was the second highest option...

Bah, there are 3 people in my (SMALL!) house full time, with 2 more part time (so I put 4), and I still got a pretty high thing for shelter.

What sunk me was transportation. I drive too many miles a week alone.

IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 4.3 PLANETS.

Oh yeah... When I lived in Costa Rica our electricity would sometimes go out for days at a time, as well as our water (although never at the same time, thankfully...). Anyways, living without electricity was much easier than living without water. Not showering, not being able to wash hands or wipe up sticky spills, or wash dishes or laundry... well it was pretty bad. And it was the middle of dry season so the rivers were all dry. We would've had to trek all the way up a mountain to find any water that we might have been able to use to wash our dishes or clothes.
Living without electricity was fine, since during that time I was much less reliant on the internet than before and after I lived there, and we only had internet in the house for the last few months we lived there anyway. We never had TV. There was reading in the day time, and sleeping, partying, or playing cards by candlelight at night.

Meh, this test i whack lol. I did it in comparison to back home. If I did it now, in the army it'd be way smaller.

Well if I'd done it 5 months ago, when I lived in Costa Rica, it would have been MUCH smaller. We didn't have a car. or a TV, but it didn't ask about that. Our house was probably less than 500 square feet. I ate about the same amount of packaged foods I suppose. Actually by the test's standards my score would have been about the same, but in reality I used much less then.

Also, I don't think i use a lot of resources at all. My family uses about average, but I, as an individual, use very little. I hardly eat, for instance. I don't ride in a car for significantly more time than there would already be people in the car if I wasn't there.

Jeez, how did you get such a low score? Do you live in a place with mass transportation? And that low shelter score! Did you underestimate the square footage of your house or do you just have a lot of people in there?

aren't you a student, living in a dorm and walking to class?

No. I don't have that kind of money. I barely have enough money to pay my tuition to a community college. Life is a bitch.

you're not missing much on dorm life-i think prisoners get more living space...but it was still cheaper than anything near campus.

I go to community college too. I live at home though. And I think 4 people is a good amount of people for a townhouse. We have 3 bedrooms. I'm glad I don't have to share mine, because I hardly fit in it. Thanks to a loft bed with a desk under it, there is actually room enough to walk between pieces of furniture.

::sigh:: I'm really upset about this even though I know the test is not very accurate because I know for sure I used far fewer resources when I lived in Costa Rica, but I still would have gotten almost the same score on the quiz. Goods and services? Where did that come from? The packaged food thing? Well I'm sorry that I eat things that aren't fruits or vegetables and that the things I eat sometimes come from far away. There's not much room for a farm in my 2 square foot front yard....

DracRomin

I wouldn't want to live in a dorm anyway. Way too much bullshit. Right now, I just go to school almost every day, do my homework when I get home, and then repeat. I like it, and I wouldn't change anything.
