Presenting a non response in such an aloof manner will get you nowhere on this forum. If you truly mean to stand your ground then post to the issue and ignore the defamatory comments. Otherwise you will soon be seen as yet another dramaqueen, getting no respect from anyone and eventually leaving in a huff.

If you really wish to live in a fascist society, as it seems you do, I suggest you pack up your shit and move to one.
Are your reading comprehension skills truely so poor that you mistook my criticisms of fascist behavior to mean I "want to" live in a fascist society?
If so, it would explain why you have no clue what you are talking about.
You are doing nothing by simply exercising a right afforded to you by the country you live in. If you get arrested and exercise your right to remain silent are you somehow "doing something"? no. So by speaking freely in a country thst guarentees free speech you are doing nothing.
So according to you, every US soldier who ever died fighting for our freedoms died for "nothing" since according to you, our freedoms aren't worth anything and exercising them is meaningless.
Is that your idea of supporting the troops?
Do you understand the concept of a slippery slope?
oh good! someone who will finally agree with my views on gay marriage! See, slippery slope is a bad word around here, it does not exist.
Judging from that response, the answer to my question is "no."

In case it's escaped your notice, this forum is pretty open about what can be and what cannot be posted. Insults and profanity are allowed as long as, and I'm paraphrasing Borg here, "as long as the insults etc. are wrapped around some kind of point". When a thread degenerates into nothing but an insult fest, which happens rarely, the thread may be closed, or posters may be warned to cease and desist. Threats are never tolerated, which is why Evak's post(s) were removed.
Trav can be pretty blunt at times (usually :D), but so can FT and any number of other people. I guess if you decide to stick around you'll have to accept us the way we are, warts and all.

Dharma, the key to jousting in this game of ego is to do either one of two things. Mix in your insults with actual on-topic arguments, as in, "What your rat-infested brain seems to refuse to acknowledge, is..." followed by your argument.
The other is to actually be funny. There's a certain level of skill involved, one you seem totally devoid of. Then again, I think I've maybe seen you be funny once. It's weird because you seem to have such great avatars and sigs. Try harder next time, kay? Which is why people jump all over you when you make posts that not only not have anything relevant, but only serve to make piddling little insults that involve you lording your (suspect) intellectual advantage over everyone.
I know it's hard distancing your ego from your posts and actually taking time to craft good posts, but there is a method to the AllForums madness. Even mine.

Well, it all boils down to respect. People, given the choice, would rather respect each other than to like each other. By lobbing insults at the other, they are giving them the opportunity to earn respect, by dealing with the insults adroitly and relevantly. If you can take it all in the spirit it was meant to be in, jest and fun, while still keeping a topic alive, well, then maybe you have something worth contributing to here.
But to expect your hard-line left stances to be taken seriously here except by other serious avowed lefties, well that's just asking too much of this board, which, in reflecting with the background American attitudes on politics these days, is decidedly disgusted by yours.

Yeah, that explains a lot. I never saw those.
His sig used to be one of those delightfully hacky insults, the kind that you get from others and actually think it's funny when you say it, forgetting that timing and delivery are twice as important as meaning, but Vile made him take it down. So now he has the "spirit" of a momma joke, without the offensive content, which about sums up Decka's character.
Decka, Decka? Give us another momma joke, will ya? Just for old-time's sake!

Only if it is untrue.
That said, the subject of this thread was really just a joke. I was being sarcastic about the slippery slope of eroding liberty we find ourselves on today.
Fascism is something to think long and hard about before making a joke of, but if Mel Brooks can do it, I guess it's something I can accept.
There never will be an administration you agree with fully on all it does. I doubt there ever has been an administration anyone has agreed with fully.
So in a sense one is always choosing the least of two evils, but you can also see it as choosing the better of two goods (since no administration will be all bad). Learning to look at the proverbial glass as half full, or even as having a few swallows of water in it, is a calmer and more sensible approach.

Let me add a comment about "our eroding liberty." I agree with you that it has been eroding, but I suspect our analysis of the reasons will differ.
Nowadays the greatest restraint on the ordinary person's liberty is the combination of the litgiation threat and government regulation.
The drug war is another source of the diminishing liberty, and I am at a loss as to what might be done to change that.
When technology gets to the point where terrorists can cause truly mass destruction, no society will permit it, and what would now be perceived as intolerable limits on liberty (especially on privacy) will be welcomed by society--nay, demanded by it.

I prefer to be realistic about what is going on, rather than having an unrealistic "postive" outlook.
It is a hell of a lot easier to feign optimism about the policies of this administration when you have no skin in the game.
Perhaps after you have lost two friends in Iraq and had one lose a leg, you would feel a little less positive about this fisaco also.

That technology has existed for decades and many would argue that terrorists have been causing mass destruction for a long time.
"Terrroism" is defined as the use of violence to force a politicial or social change.
"Regime change" IS terrorism.
Without an immediate threat to give one an excuse for invasion, the invasion ceases to be in defense and becomes a act of aggression. It becomes naked "regime change" which is, by definition, Terrorism.
The scare tactics that will be used to try and force our freedoms away from us must be rejected by people of conscience.

I have to be honest and tell you that from what I've seen, your outlook is not "realistic." You seem to live in a fantasy world--one I have not yet and probably will never figure out, but it ain't nice. No wonder you are so ill tempered.
As far as weapons of mass destruction go, at the moment their possession is limited to organized governments, and that spread is, I think, the greatest danger facing humanity.
One of these days terrorists will become known to possess nuclear weapons. At that point, or shortly thereafter when they use one, society will be utterly transformed.
