but keep our relatives safe, please.

Four people who are involved in anti-America activities, yet either lived in America for a time, or have families living here in the States.
Nabih Berri, Lebanese militia chief of sorts, up to his eyeballs involved with Hezbollah and allied with Syria, has much of his family living in the Dearborn Michigan.
Amr Salemm, ex Syrian cabinent member of Syria, lived for a while in the U.S. and was one of the Microsoft's big wigs. Family still lives in the U.S.
Bilal Musharraf, son of Pakistan strongman Gen. Pervez Musharraf, works as a consultant in Boston, attended Stamford for a while or something, dammit. Bilal's father is one of those who refuses to try to root out the Islamists living on the Pakistani border with Afghanistan. This likely includes Bin Laden, dammit.
Prince Bandar bin Sultan, Saudi Ambasador to the U.S. A country famous for funding Islamic schools was living in the U.S. for a while and is selling one of the most expensive homes in the U.S.
What's the point? Just this, the people involved in Islamic activities KNOW that America is a safe, tolerant country that respects foreigners. THEIR relatives live in safety here in the U.S. while they themselves do all they can to either damage America as much as they can or to force their own beliefs on others. Deep down, they know that their societies are broken, that there isn't much oppurtunity for education and less for single women and people of differing faiths in their own countries. America, isn't divided up into sectarian tribes and we don't have people trying to kill others who have different beliefs or whatever.
What's worse, there is a sense of uncertainty that overcomes these Islamists when they come to the U.S. They LIKE our openess and freewheeling society, though they aren't supposed. Not that any of this motivates any of these people to try to make their societies better. Amr Salemn, for one, used the education he picked up working at Microsoft to better surveil what his countrymen in Syria are doing on their computers.
It gives the lie to the idea that America is a rotten decadent country. Our formula of democracy, law, equal rights, tolerance, secular education and gender equality makes this a kind of place where even the most hardened autocratic thugs want to send their families to live in peace, prosperity and safety. The thugs sure don't want THEIR relatives living in thier rotten, corrupt, impoverished countries divided by tribal warfare where a person being at the wrong place at the wrong time gets their throats slit.
SO, not only do normal immigrants come to America for a better future, the world's thugs seem to like it here as well, at least for their own families.
This articles leaves me with a sense of wanting to fight even harder for America and with a firmer belief that American ideals are truly universal, dammit.
